very interesting rumours:
seems like katusha and colombia coldeportes will get invited
and farnese and bardiani were asked by rcs to form a single team for il giro...does that sound plausible?

Do the UCI rules allow that?

It's happened before but dunno if it's allowable now.
...[Walsh] thinks we're ahead of the curve. But think about it for a sec. We're building long-lasting, trusting relationships with people who are spending a lot of money - Coke, Nike, Subaru. If we're f***ing lying, we can kiss it all goodbye. And if we were lying we'd do some stupid stuff to try to cover it up, wouldn't we? Does anybody think for a second that a secret that big wouldn't come out? Bill Stapleton

****ing great news, if true. Di Luca will probably be on that single Italian wildcard team... gotta be. Ever since he was at that Miami Gran Fondo, cheesing next to Acquarone I've had high hopes. Did RCS finally come to their got damn senses? It appears so.

Chaves and Atapuma will be great additions, as well.

I'll be the first one to ask this question then, who gives a crap about Di Luca and his mediocrity?

We might actually get a decent rider in the Giro instead of Di Luca. ;)

Who do you mean, Stybar? Did you really tell people he could score upwards of 900 CQ points this year?

I see I've hurt the first fanboy already.

I mean just about any cyclist who doesn't need ten pounds of kidney as breakfast in the morning to finish a race.

that would be great. Fingers crossed :)
A race that doesn't give an attacker the chance to finish it off alone is not a race anymore.

Vini Fantini will be there I reckon. I don't think that Katusha will, unless Purito changes his mind and decides to go for the Giro. After that I'd say Colombia Coldeportes and maybe either IAMS or Netapp-Endura are the most likely and I reckon both could do a reasonable job of animating the race. Europcar? No, don't see Voekler or Rolland showing up which is what it'd take.

Di Luca? Yawn.

the only solution (for the future) is that some World Tour teams are allowed to choose which races they want to ride. so maybe we see FDJ and Argos pass off the Giro and we have place for the little Pro continental teams.

With the current World Tour system where the points the team score is the main factor in deciding World Tour status ( Unless you fall out with the UCI ofc:D,)it wont happen.
All World Tour teams will ride all WT races (at least until they are safe for next year)
The only solution is to reduce the no of WT teams.

These are the three riders I want to see in the Giro no matter what: Rabottini, Duarte, & Pirazzi :)

I think Colombia Coldeportes is assured of a Giro Wildcard.
Otherwise they wouldn't have invited Johan Chaves for the presentation.

I thought he was at the Tour presentation? Or was it both? Definately need to see them in a WT race this year...
