Longest Team Name

12 Feb 2013 14:14

During 2008-2009 Gianni Savio's team was called "Serramenti PVC Diquigiovanni-Androni Giocattoli", 43 chars in total. In next 2 years Androni became the main sponsor but the character remains the same. So was there any team with longer name before? Amateur team not included.

To expel boredom.

Formaggi Pinzolo Fiave-Ciarrocchi Immobiliare

These smaller Italian teams with about a million sponsors are always a treat :D

Edit: Damn, only 41 chars. Savio's Angels still in front.

There's been a bit of a cull on names like that though with the UCI only recognising two named sponsors now, hence Radioshack-Nissan. You see a bunch of South American amateur teams with huge lines of sponsors like that.

Other nominations would be:
Gobernación Antioquia-Indeportes Antioquia
Kenda-Five Hour Energy presented by Gear Grinder
Start Cycling Team-Atacama Flowery Desert
Clube DataRo de Ciclismo-Foz do Iguaçu
Centro Ciclismo de Loulé-Louletano(-Orbitur-Aquashow)
Scott-Marcondes César-São José dos Campos
Colavita-Sutter Home presented by Cooking Light
Nazionale Elettronica-New Slot-Hadimec
Team Concordia Førsikring-Vesthimmerland Pro Cycling
Tecos de la Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara
Bodysol-Euro Millions-Pôle Continental Wallon
Successfulliving.com presented by Parkpre
Toshiba-Santo Pro Cycling presented by Herbalife
Babes Only-Villapark Langemeer-Flanders
Jartazi Promo Fashion Continental Cycling Team
Kodakgallery.com-Sierra Nevada Brewing Company
Priority Health Cycling Team presented by Bissell
The Jittery Joe's Zero Gravity Pro Cycling Team

There are some useful women's team names too:
Infinit Nutrition-Zero Power Women's Cycling Team
Parkhotel Valkenburg presented by Math Salden
Wetterse Dakwerken-Autoglas Wetteren Cycling Team
The Missing Link Coaching Systems-Team Specialized
Seventhgroove-RE:form Body Clinic Cycling Team
Specialized Carrefour Multisport GSD Gestion

Should be:
Team Concordia Forsikring-Vesthimmerland Pro Cycling ;)

There's no ø in forsikring (insurance)

Oops! I thought maybe I was confusing it with the Norwegian, but it looks like there's no ø in that either. I knew it meant insurance (compare Ger. Versicherung/Ned. Verzekering) but really thought there was an ø. My bad.

You may have confused it with the Swedish försäkring. Ah, the joy of our beloved Nordic languages.

Back on topic: Colavita Olive Oil - Sutter Home Wines Cycling Team is a winner too.

But of course it is a good idea to secure something before the accident (or whatever) happens! :p
In Italy when you need a coffee you need the right barista, so you need to teach Chris [Juul Jensen] how to make the right coffee.
