Pretty convincing win by Hivert, BTW.

Numbers. Very true.

Hivert
Impressive. Should be able to do something on stage two as well perhaps, but then what?

Then he could try to do his best with what he has left

He won a few races in his carreer. (7) one Stage of the Tour of Romandie once and the general at Etoiles de Besseges. He looks like he is trying harder now that he is with Sojasun

yeah, looked like all the "favorites" were waiting for Valverde to make a move. Not so with Hivert. Great stuff.

Stage 2 profile reminder:

Image

Current GC:
1 Alejandro Valverde (Esp) Movistar Team 4:13:22
2 Jurgen Van Den Broeck (Bel) Lotto Belisol 0:00:07
3 Bauke Mollema (Ned) Blanco Pro Cycling 0:00:11
4 Simon Spilak (Slo) Katusha 0:00:12
5 Bart De Clercq (Bel) Lotto Belisol 0:00:17
6 Jakob Fuglsang (Den) Astana 0:00:19
7 Nairo Quintana (Col) Movistar Team 0:00:24
8 Jonathan Hivert (Fra) Sojasun 0:00:25
9 Luis Angel Mate (Esp) Cofidis, Solutions Credits 0:00:29
10 Sander Armee (Bel) Topsport Vlaanderen-Baloise 0:00:30

Should be enough hurdles in the last 30km or so to do some racing but probably not before.

No bonus secs and considering the next stage, a break win seems likely.

Pouring rain right now in Andalucia. Ruta del Sol not living up to its name.

They still got another day to find the sun. There's plenty of time! :D

BTW, love the way they've solved the We won't actually know what team the wearer of each jersey will be on until a few minutes before he has to receive it on the podium issue! :p
It has reached my attention that some people seem to think I would make a good mod.
Forget it! It's not gonna happen. EVER!

A 70 kms from the finish. The rain stops, at least for now. A relief for everyone, especially for runners
