Shimano C60s - spokes popping

16 Jan 2019 08:41

Miles Scotson found himself unable to sprint today after breaking a rear spoke and the rim warping so badly that he came to a stop.

Apparently its nothing new:

A comment from Ride shortly after putting up the interview:

"PS. I've had confirmation from others in the bike trade that this is not unique to Scotson in stage 2, nor to Groupama-FDJ at the TDU.

In the words of one person who has contacted RIDE Media, "Our team had the same issue last year... seems there were a 'bad batch'. One of our riders had three wheel changes in three days at one race, all rear C60s... he went back on a pair of year old c50s and was fine."

Not what you want from the "industry leader"

Ride have since removed the article, but Scotson went off about the C60s and the drive side spokes breaking. There's been confirmation this is an issue with other teams as well. The rest of the range seems to be fine though.

I get a kick out of the 'industry' when they try to explain away something that's more of a 'design problem', than 'bad batch'...
