The official debate: Should Contador have waited for Schleck?

19 Jul 2010 14:59

Cant just discuss this on a race thread. Espcially since i expect some words to come out of Andy at the end of the stage.

THis is likely the major debating point of the tour.

Discuss.

Berto's Attack

19 Jul 2010 15:00

Schleck drops a chain and the Spaniard attacks?!? We'll see how this pans out, no respect for the maillot jaune with a mechanical.

Will Contador feel guilty.

Does it matter that Schleck was the MJ.

I tend to agree with Sherwen here. I think it's entirely inappropriate to attack the MJ during a mechanical.

The long road is ripe with opportunity to beat the yellow, when you can't do it with muscle. This is a new era.

The other 2 might just be a bit too far back, which saves them.

I wanna see footage and data on how much work Contador did after the mechanical. On my desk, by noon.

If Contador was confident of winning the Tour this year then he would have waited. Now his Tour win this year will be tainted in my eyes

Nice merciless effort by Bertie. Exactly what I would have done.

You wait if the problem is not of your own doing, you don't wait if you stupidly throw your chain off ie. something you caused.

Well thats my 2 cents

If you put Contador on the program Lance was on in his prime, it would be like watching a bicycle duct-taped to the space shuttle go up the alps. You have to factor all that in when figuring out which one is the most talented

What would be cool for the tourmalet, is to have Vino totally wipe shrek off his bike. And then ATTACK

What was AC supposed to do, sit up and wait for AS by himself and allow Menchov and Sanchez - two pretty damn good TT'ers - to ride off? It's tough luck for AS, but it's not a two-man race.
