Sorry to hear that. A very exciting rider to watch but we all live just once so I have to admire his decision. He will be missed! :(

"During a routine medical check-up, a cardiac arrhythmia and scar tissue were found in the 31-year-old Belgian rider,"

lucky they found the problem. I wonder what kind of medical checks he underwent during his WT career al least. didnt they notice if before?

Very sad news, however we hope he can have a happy and healthy retirement.

The problems could've been developped only recently, after all cycling demands a lot from the heart.

Thats a hard blow for Fortuneo. Was really looking forward to him doing the French races.

Travis Meyer is retiring after tomorrow's Nationals Road Race. Talented rider who couldn't quite get it right at WT level, should have had a better career.

That collision with that car really ruined his career.

I'd have sworn he was going to be a world-beater and Classics dominator after the first couple years. Much like Popovych, he had the amateur pedigree and early results to justify lofty expectations.

Ciolek won MSR, a GT stage, U23 Worlds and a German championship. Quite a career - I'd take that palmares any day. He clearly lost motivation over the last years; makes sense to have a clear cut now.
