Top 10 mountains you must climb before you die

I haven't done Pikes Peak yet now that it's paved to the top. I haven't done Guenella Pass from Georgetown either. That one would be a beast although there are some flatter recovery sections.

Re: With the lack of oxygen in the atmosphere you'd have to get creative with the PEDs.

Re: Don't go too soon after they've graded it. It will be very soft. Better to go a week or so afterwards when the traffic has had a chance to compact it.

Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession)

Thank Dog for Lance Armstrong. The clinic would be a much less entertaining place without him. :D

Can a clean rider outperform doped riders in the current peloton?

That's not the point I was trying to make. If one of the main arguments against doping is it's inherent unfairness - that "clean" riders of higher talent can and are beaten by less talented "dirty" riders, how much more "fair" is it that a few riders - maybe less talented riders have more...

Can a clean rider outperform doped riders in the current peloton?

So the linked article is about a runner but if you read through the whole thing, it talks about long standing world track records set during what is widely considered the 'state sponsored PED era' and the coach thinks those can be broken with advanced training methods. What strikes me is...

Can a clean rider beat dopers? - The poll

How else can you explain Saint Greg? He's the only one though.

Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession)

Do you really think whether or not LA raced clean or not was that big of a deal in the eyes of the majority of the general American public? "Fans" want spectacular performances, even many, probably most of the so called "real" cycling fans who post on forums like CN lament "boring" performances...

    UCI to trial disc brakes?

Disk brakes for bikes - all kinds of bikes - are a pretty well sorted out technology. Compatibility issues between brands for neutral support aside, I'd think the risk of failure wouldn't be any larger than any other piece of new gear that's being used in any races.

Official Lance Armstrong Thread: Part 3 (Post-Confession)

Thank Dog for Lance Armstrong. The clinic would be a much less entertaining place without him. None of the other dopers inspire nearly as much passion and un compromising dogma (except maybe Saint Greg in the opposite way) as Lance Armstrong.

Lemond's Legacy: How Lemond Changed Cycling

I met LeMond briefly at a SCCA club race during my auto racing days when he was dabbling in auto racing. To be honest he wasn't very friendly and didn't seem to be interested in talking bike racing but I suppose he figured he had spent enough years being "fan and sponsor friendly" and he just...

Nadal receives Stem cell therapy on his injured back

In the clinic world anything an athlete ingests or is injected (no never mind, ALL injections are suspect) with except water and Mom's good home cooking is suspect. (of course Mom once shopped at a grocery that Dr. Ferrari shopped at 5 years ago so she's suspect too) An athlete that uses...

bike with disc brake more advantages or disadvantages?

I should have also mentioned that overheating is only one issue. Power is the main advantage. Anyone who says rim brakes are anywhere near in the league of disks for braking power and modulation hasn't ridden a bike with disks. Hauling down a road at 40-50 mph into a sharp turn (I have 2010 Dura...
