Team Ineos (Formerly the Sky thread)

Re: Re: To be fair, I thought Richie Porte was a chance the past two years had he not fallen early. I 100% believe Sky are doping, but their dominance has been exaggerated by their biggest competitor crashing out

2016 Tour Down Under WT January 19-24 Adelaide

The gear Renshaw was pushing compared to the others in the sprint was insane - shows why he's a better leadout man than sprinter. He got a slight hook from the Sky train and went early, and ended up giving Ewan a perfect lead out (not that he needed it) - would be good to see again at the Worlds!

Teams & Riders Mark Cavendish Discussion Thread

Not sure what you're basing this on - you clearly didn't watch much of the HTC era. Goss was very very rarely used as a leadout for Cav. Renshaw was always the last man when he was there. Goss generally raced a separate schedule to Cavendish, where he raced as the lead sprinter himself. When...

2014 Tour Down Under Stage 6: Adelaide Circuit Race

I think it was going to be a leadout, until the Lotto train went flying past. Renshaw did the smart thing and jumped on the back of it. This meant a leadout wasn't required because he had the best wheel in the pack - Greipel.

Junior racing - The stars of the future

It undoubtedly does against fellow 16 year olds, but that still doesn't account for a 16yo mixing it with some of Australia's senior pros as he did at the NSW Criterium Circuit.

    Paris - Nice, Stage 1 Saint-Germain-en-Laye -> Nemours 195 km, Monday 4th March

I'm not sure it was a bad sprint necessarily. Petacchi darted off to the left, Renshaw followed for a few metres, and then darted down the inside. The gap was then closed. If Renshaw rode through it, and they closed on him there would have been a fall THEN it would have been Petacchi's fault for...

2013 Santos Tour Down Under Stage 1: Prospect -> Lobethal, 135km

Greipel - with that type of lead out is unbeatable. His top speed is up there with anybodies, and he only had to come out with 200m to go, and keep going. By the time Demare, Renshaw and Ponzi really started winding up, the race was over.

Hot racing coming up in Australia

Yeah, but finishing at the Mount, surely?! :) The hill up College Road towards the tip is actually basically going up the side of Mount Panorama anyway. They could start by going out through Rockley, back via Trunkey Road. That's about an 80km loop (if they started at the Murrays Corner at...

Hot racing coming up in Australia

Couldn't find a proper elevation map - like we get of stages, the closest thing I could find was this: Hard to tell there, but you can see in an anti-clockwise direction it's much steeper, as the majority of the climbing is done over a much shorter distance. In the way up, it's done slowly and...

Hot racing coming up in Australia

I grew up in Bathurst, and can confirm that you're mostly right, there are a couple of steep spots, but it's mostly not that steep....at least it's not going forwards around it. If you go backwards, it's REALLY steep up through Forests Elbow, the Esses and the Dipper.

Top 10 Cyclists from your country of all time

Hehe, funny to see this opening post now. Poor Flandis and Tyler cop un (dis?)honourable mentions, but Lance, Levi, CVV, Julich, Hincapie and Zabriskie get off scot free!?

Less well known cycling records or facts

Yes, both were stripped of the overall, but I think the point everyone else is making is that without either getting stripped Landis wouldn't have qualified anyway. If Landis wasn't stripped, he won a stage, so didn't meet the requirements of the category anyway.

Boni Seconds In The Tour? Bring it Back?

It adds more excitement to the first week - regarding sprinters chasing the yellow for a day (which they deserve, as they're the dominant riders of the first week). Those saying it falsifies the result - the same goes for the group getting the same time. Obviously the argument here is for...

Junior racing - The stars of the future

Next year look out for Jack Edwards. The guy is a first year U19 rider - and generally a pursuiter/points racer, but then turned around and won the NSW State Kieren title...He also looked great in the NSW Criterium series recently - against guys like Sutton and Matthews, and he's only 16.

    Rogers to CSC!

Well it's no worse than everyone saying Rogers raced for Telekom. He raced for T-Mobile, Highroad, Columbia and HTC, but not Telekom. Logical fallacy of my post? Please elaborate. I think a team that has come out very publicly with a zero tolerance of past dopers, suddenly allowing an...
