    Ketone drinks

That's not true. I have heard that some of their riders actually use - gasp! - synthetic multivitamins. (Joking aside, this newfound focus on ketones as a fuel source and whether they are "natural" or synthetic is ridiculous.)

Power Data Estimates for the climbing stages

Re: IOW, the numbers/assumptions are whack. (Note for others: based on analyzing data from runners, zctt Riegel came up with an exponent of -0.07, or 1.07 as expressed above.)

Power Data Estimates for the climbing stages

 I don't understand why there is a difference between the "Perfect Cyclist's" assumed FTP of 6.4 W/kg and their estimated (using Reigel's formula) power of 6.15 W/kg for 47:15. If somebody's FTP is indeed 6.4 W/kg, then at at least when fresh (as apparently assumed here) they would...

Cardiac Anomalies - is something going on or is this normal?

Re: Cardiac Anomalies - is something going on or is this nor I did a quick search of PubMed using the terms "cardiac arrhythmia endurance athletes". The earliest article that turned up was from 1985. I suspect that the lack of attention to this issue prior to that date reflects the fact that...

The Froome Files, test data only thread

Re: 1. Delay and kinetics are not the same thing. 2. Wasn't Froome's maximal heart rate in the lab tests 168 beats/min? Why would you therefore expect it to go any higher (esp. with the well-known suppressive effect of overreaching on maximal heart rate)?

The Froome Files, test data only thread

Re: Re: All I might know (that hasn't already been mentioned in this thread, at least that I've seen) is that not only are changes in heart rate delayed with respect to changes in power, but the kinetics have been fairly well-described. I am therefore surprised that no one seems to have taken...

The Froome Files, test data only thread

Re: "Went with"? Yeah, my comment wasn't really being fair to red flanders. It was really meant to be directed at this overall twist in the thread in general.
