Teams & Riders Marc Hirschi discussion thread

I don't think I'd seen him in action before yesterday, he has huge potential. Just from yesterday's stage: he can climb, descend, and sprint with the best of them, and he's still so young too!

I think this is the best he's looked by this stage of the Tour in a few years. He looked nearly as strong as Roglic I think.

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

I begrudgingly have to agree with the two posts above. I really really hope he will regain some semblance of the level he was at 2014-2015, but that would be an amazing come back and there's no logical reason we should expect it. For me, a podium would already be an amazing result. All I'm...

All I'm hoping for is that he's strong enough to drop the hammer in the 3rd week and be among the best in those stages. Yellow is unrealistic with this field IMO, but I guess anything could happen in a year like this

Teams & Riders The official Egan Bernal is the new Egan Bernal thread

I think he looked OK, although I heard one of the NBC Peacock announcers mention that he seemed to be struggling to keep up. I think as long as his back holds up, he should be flying in the high mountains. The question is if that will be enough to win this time. Roglic looks very strong as...

The annual 'who wins the Tour de France poll' 2020 edition

If Roglic is healthy, he's clearly the best positioned to win. This Tour is very different than the previous ones however, so I'm not sure how good an indicator dominance at the Dauphine will be. Like, I can see Bernal reaching his peak by the end of the second week and dominating like we...

United Kingdom | 6 TDF Wins in 10 Years?

Re: The Mayas are in southern Mexico and Central America. The indigenous people of what is now Colombia were part of other cultures, the most prominent of which were the Chibcha people. Quintana and Bernal are from a region where people have mostly Chibcha ancestry.

He was the strongest climber by far at this point, had yellow, and nothing but mountains before Paris. Kind of ridiculous to say he won the lottery.

And that 2015 podium for Valverde played a part in Nairo not winning that Tour. Also, let’s not forget 2014. Movistar sent him to the Giro so that Valverde could have another crack at a Tour podium (which he proceeded to f*€k up). That would’ve been Quintana’s best chance to win the race as it...

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

The Tour in 2016 was the first time he looked bad while riding GC in any kind of race. It was a minor miracle he managed to podium. I’d be very interested to find out what his real problem is. It is baffling that he declined so quickly while still being so young. Was it lack of discipline? Too...

    Le Tour 2019 stage 15: Limoux - Foix Prat d'Albis 185 km

This stage would be perfect for any of the top contenders hoping to knockout Thomas. I don’t think anyone has the legs right now though.

    Teams & Riders Team Movistar-thread

Landa was in a position to win at the end and GT cracked. I’d say they did very well. You could tell Nairo wasn’t well because he was never at the front with his teammates. Had Alaphilippe cracked, as he would have in years past, Movistar’s day would have looked even better. Another thing they...

    Teams & Riders Geraint Thomas

Hard to tell right now. After an ITT, it’s sort of normal to have a bad day sometimes. Difficult to know if this is just that. If you look at today’s results in isolation, Egan seems to be the the obvious choice to fight it out in the mountains.

Teams & Riders Nairo Quintana discussion thread

Obviously Quintana remembers 2015 all too well and won’t be caught out by the wind again. Say what you will about riding at the front and being attentive, but he looked as if he knew the wind was going to be a factor in this stage. There’s still a lot of Tour left and his final prep race only...
