I tend to agree. Particularly as the speeds they get to now makes many courses dangerous or unsuitable.
But there is a whole economy built around people having to buy a TT specific bike.
Long only in terms of recent times.
There was a time when this was pretty standard if not longer in one week races. And the riders who won GCs were primarily TTers who could climb, as opposed to climbers who often don’t need to even TT.
Begrudging Remco one such race seems petty and ridiculous...
Seriously? How is this got ANYTHING to do with the point I was making?
Absolutely zero.
You are on ignore because you cannot be bothered to actually read my post. You just triggered your own agenda. Unreal.
I think some posters don't always realize how injuries, crashes and illness have delayed Remco's career.
For example, he was to do the giro in 2020.
We might have seen him at the TDF even in 2021 at that point -- or perhaps the Vuelta would have been in 2021 and the TDF in 2022.
Instead, he...
agreed to a point.
stay healthy and crash-free, and let the chips fall where they may.
just want to see him with a clean shot (not that he will win anything against pog or Vingo) but just top shape throughout, building from form at end of 2025.
seemed much more tired than yesterday at the end. time for some rest and recovery. last climb was not that impressive against Rondel, but he kept opening the gap against the chasers.
I agree in terms of the high mountains.
However, before completely giving up on that, I'd love to see a completely injury free/crash free prep. we have literally, yet to see that.
To be fair, I know. 🙂👍
I think I was answering your point and then broadened what I was talking about and that seemed to bring you under that label.
I hope you will accept my sincere apologies for this mishap.
He has absolutely zero shot at winning M-R.
Pog fan boys just want him to be in every race Pog enters so their guy looks even better. Remco is the only rider not allowed - in their minds - to choose his own career path. He must instead at every opportunity lose to Pog instead.
Can’t wait to...
interesting take.
remco did not avoid him (and coming second to him) in the fall.
in fact, it was pog who shied away from what would have been another humiliation at the euro ITT.
know that your "theory" can go both ways. LOL!
TDF I think actually has the same deal as recent P-N with individual being counted, so launching one rider at the end. Makes it tough strategically for teams with more than one leader. Particularly with it ending in a climb.
