WADA Getting Ready to Reinstate Russia

In four years, XC skiing may be utterly, utterly dead as an international sport. Why not just give up and move every FIS world cup race in the calendar to Norway, except two races in Sweden and one in Finland. You could call it "World Series" or something.

    Doping In Athletics

So what do you need to do to get popped for an ABP violation? https://www.athleticsintegrity.org/downloads/pdfs/disciplinary-process/en/191105-IAAF-v-Kiptum-Decision.pdf Well, a 20.1 g/dL HGB / 0.83% RET / 148.30 OFF-SCORE some days before competition followed by an 18.7 g/dL HGB / 0.53% RET /...

    Doping In Athletics

USADA should apologize, it appears that Coleman had calculated that he should have been able to dope freely again until he had missed another test - the first of his missed tests should have gone off his record already ;) Coleman should be tested 300-400 times a year from now on, not 30-40, if...

Björndalen and Domracheva announced that they will be the head coaches of the Chinese biathlon teams (Ole overall head coach, Darya coach of women's team). How many of the team will be able to beat their coaches in ski speed before the season is over? That should be a marker of points scoring...

Bad news from Norway, but it also feels lucky so far. Sondre Torvoll Fossli had a heart attack, but was rescued by the quick action of his girlfriend and a passing cyclist, and by the ambulance appearing quickly in about four minutes (based on Google Translate of the article below)...

A tennis SARMs positive https://www.itftennis.com/news/309220.aspx Fairly small fry, Beatriz Haddad Maia - a Brazilian player ranked 99 in the world with a career high of #58. Unsure what to make of it, she's ranked low enough that doping testing is probably not even a monthly occurrence for her.

Koukalova also announced this morning that she is retiring. https://twitter.com/IBU_WC/status/1133325691112628224 Although I thought she had already made it official, I guess not.

    Doping in Austria

Downhill skiing at the top level requires lots of strength and significant endurance - in addition to the technique and fearless mind, of course - and some athletes seem to be in constant injury rehab, making incredibly impressive comebacks from severe injuries again and again. So I would not...

    Doping in Austria

Maybe they consider the US annexation of Hawaii to have been illegal? ;) I'm pretty sure I saw an article where Gräber mentioned they are not saying if there are German athletes implicated at the moment, which is different from "there are no German athletes implicated".

    Doping in XC skiing

Re: Re: A minor injury or sickness in the offseason, some overtraining, perhaps an undetected virus infection... and suddenly you have a completely miserable season. Although, of course, Northug is not much older than Fourcade, and he pretty much fell off, never to recover, at the age Fourcade...

    Doping in XC skiing

Re: Health issues can happen to anyone, and there are lots of certainly doped athletes who seem to be perfectly healthy. A long term mycoplasma infection was the quoted reason for Elofsson's retirement. I do agree that his strongest years were a bit before the the EPO test really started...
