We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
Nope, he was working alright...working to stay in touch with the bunch!:D...both Davis' got dropped from the 'chase' bunch with maybe 4 laps to go (not that there was much chasing going on!) & were sitting on the back well before that. To be fair, though, it's not exactly a race/parcours that...
Oh yeah, we know lot's about 'cycling winner' ARMSTRONG...unfortunately WADA & the UCI have been able to make anything 'stick' yet!...do some searches of the forum, I'm sure you'll find plenty of info...either that or google, there'd be 400gazillion hits on 'lance' I'd reckon...should keep you...
Gotta say I liked the look of Baden Cooke at the Aussie Nats, looked leaner than I've ever seen him, obviously can sprint & can climb a bit as well (well enough to get over Wilunga, anyway). If Jens & Stuey are strong, Cooke could well be in all the finishes
read david walsh's 'From lance to landis' (or whatever it's called), half the book is dedicated to these particular incidents...carmichael reckons they were injecting 'extract of cortisone' or something...the fact that 'extract of cortisone' doesn't exist is neither here nor there! :)....Oh, &...
who said you needed to be a climber to win on this course?....apart from Cookie's rant the other day?. So tactical genius that you are, you'd have had Rogers in the break after 500 mts?...No point putting either Goss or howard up there, what would that achieve?...neither of them could have won...
Dunno how hard Davis was 'trying' at the Aussie Nat's on the weekend, but he looked very ordinary & overweight. He'll need to find some form quickly if he's going to challenge at the TDU, regardless of what he's said in the media
They might be a 'pro tour' squad, but they only had 3 riders, Howard & Goss, pretty much 1st year on the squad.. & Rogers. They were never gunna be able to control anything with that group. The fact is the 'break' went 500mts into a 160km race in 38 deg heat...no-one expected it to stick (see...
A bit harsh. In 38 deg heat, with the winning break going on the 1st lap, no-one expected it to stick. We were 'camped' on the hill & it was quite obvious the 'bunch' were all quite happy to wait it out & keep their 'powder dry' until later in the race. Columbia only ever gave a half hearted...
Perhaps a bit of pro cycling education is needed here. Browns sprint was about as clean as it gets....regardless of what YOU might think, Brownie is a marked man by the commissaires because of his past indescretions, if there was even the slightest reason to relegate him, he would of been. He...
