Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

One can find numerous examples where it worked out fine. The recently deceased Laura Dahlmeier comes to mind. And before her Neuner did the same. Mark Spitz and Björn Borg are two more famous, although already faded, names.

Florian Lipowitz is the new German GC hope discussion thread

It will be interesting to see how he and the team evolve. Bora tried (mostly successfully I would say) to keep (public) expectations low and slowly develop him to a GT hopeful. But after his podium, it would have been a big task to confirm his success next year even without any management and...

Vingegaard vs Pogačar - The Duel

Did he talk or write about that? Or is that your interpretation of what caused his problems?

Tour de France Tour de France 2025 Stage 19: Albertville-La Plagne (93.1k) ‚Historic day, magnificent racing‘ ~ Rob Hatch, probably

Lipowitz wasn't racing? I don't get it. He's in for white jersey and podium which I would both deem very valuable for a 23 year old, first time Tour de France participant and he did what he had to do to secure these achievements by pulling and putting time into his direct opponent. Would he...

Tour de France Tour de France 2025 Stage 19: Albertville-La Plagne (93.1k) ‚Historic day, magnificent racing‘ ~ Rob Hatch, probably

For years, the ITV team did a very good job. Pity, it's coming to an end. Next year, there are plans by the Never Strays Far folks (Boulting, Millar and Deignan) to host a YouTube show during the tour.

Tour de France Tour de France 2025, Stage 16: Montpellier to Mont Ventoux, 171.5 km

I've seen video from 07/18 where starting at Chalet Reynard fences are up on both sides (which would be 6km to go?). Higher up there are none - yet I guess.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Not sure their power numbers increased. I don't see vdP significantly better than last year. He races smarter since some time, but is of course a beast of a rider for the classics and seems to have overcome his back problems. Pedersen is 29 and has been there or there about for a long time as...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Only a "problem" if they don't both start. But that's a different discussion. I don't think that their level can get constantly much higher. Vingegaard should do better this year, if his preparation is not hindered in a severe way. Whether Pogačar can repeat or even better last years form...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

There should be a top ceiling for either of them. If both improve significantly year after year even after 30 with everything going on (crashes, intense racing all year round, media pressure), I would find that hard to explain.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I'm not convinced that another team would want to help make the race for Pogačar, but indeed trying to make the race as hard as possible might be the final puzzle piece. I'm looking forward to next year. Hope all protagonists make it back there.

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

That would be interesting. For me, M-SR delivered the best finale this spring. Although when I think about it, I don't see how another team would make much difference against van der Poel in such form. An absolute beast of a rider. A pity that Petersen and Pogačar could not go all the way in...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

Vingegaard won two times, but that does not mean he can do it again against a more capable Pogačar. He should certainly believe so if he is healthy and has a good preparation. And I surely hope he will be at his best come July and wish him luck. He was very good last year after his major crash...

Teams & Riders Official Wout Van Aert thread

Hilarious only in light of this forum discussion. Although not a fan, I certainly wish him the best of luck anyhow. I don't see him at the top for RVV, but maybe in Roubaix it finally comes together for him. I wouldn't bet on it, Alpecin seems again poised to take the win, but I wouldn't rule...

He did. Broken derailleur. Someone ran into him. Also had a flat afterwards.

Certainly. He also benefited greatly at M-SR, but wasn't that the point? Together they make a package that is difficult to beat at these races. Also true, but MvdP is of course exceptional. Otherwise if you regularly have the fastest sprint at the end and can hang on competitors, you might...
