Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

I was very bold and very wrong. Mathieu not on a good day today I think. He was blown after the Cipressa and was taking some small drink, probably pickle juice. He didnt look good at all really. Not moving up quickly on the Cipressa and into the Poggio skipping turns.

There is that although I am curious to see how strong Del Toro will be on the Cipressa/Poggio if it gets to that. He is a bit of a strange rider, either he'll very good or we won't see him at all. The UAE team just seems too light to be on the front going onto the Cipressa, Wellens is a huge...

Mathieu might have taken another step, climbing very well. Climb was 3 km longer and a bit steeper than the Cipressa. He won every race he tried to win so far. Looks incredibly relaxed. I'm calling it: Treble incoming

This a load week for him, it's esssentially training. He will de load a bit towards MSR and then increase the load again afterwards, continuing to train through races like E3 and GW (depending on schedule) and then peak specifically for Flander and Roubaix. He's been doing this for some time now...

Horner himself is a bit of knucklehead. I got a 100 on him calling everybody in the front today knuckleheads for not all racing against Mathieu where in reality it would have made absolutely no difference. He could have won it ten different ways.

Teams & Riders The Big 6

It is quite interesting. Pogacar will go down as the greatest of all time when he is done based on palmares alone. Mvdp will be remembered as an all time great classics specialist. Since 2023 they have pretty much divided up the big races where they were both at the start line, with Pogacar...

Teams & Riders Official Wout Van Aert thread

Yeah, race circumstances obviously play too big a role to make conclusions like that in hindsight. Having said that though, the racing has just changed from then onwards. If you have Tadej and Mathieu at the start and add in a Pedersen as well they will just go full gas from a 100k out and it's...

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2025, one day monument, April 6 (men's)

He did a few too many big accelerations early on like 2nd time Kwaremont and blew his engine trying to follow Pog the third time.

Pogi W, great race from him. No team, just smart riding and real attritional riding on the bergs.

This could end up in sprint with this group of 5. Pog and Mvdp can drop them but will Pog want to ride to the finish with Mathieu.

Pog looked mvdp’s equal for the first time on Taaienberg. Very interesting what will happen on oude kwaremont. If Pog wins it will be one of his best tactical races ever.

Mathieu strongest by some distance. Doesn’t mean he will win but I think he will

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I agree on the recency bias. However I also think Tadej should've raced E3. He has the well deserved advantage of being the wc and having god status in the peleton so positioning will be easier but I can still see him be out of position a couple of times. See the Cipressa for instance where he...
