This kind of letter should be illegal but I bet the letter just asks in a very nice way that promotes cycling and the lbs in general.

My mavic cosmos do not do interlace. Straight pull from the hub to the rim without touching any other spoke. These wheels are fine but slightly flexy under heavy torque. Did I explain my easton concern incorrectly?

Get a cheap bike and a good fit. After training for a while you will adapt and your fit might change.You will notice if you feel too high or saddle is not quite right. If so, redo fit. Then get better bike. At this point you will have more knowledge of road bikes and can make better decision.

I don`t know how much you weigh but I would have to ride with an extra 85lbs of weight to achieve 250. I would not trust 28 spokes, let alone 16, doing that.

This only applies to j-bend spokes, correct?

In addition to no weight limit, they are also apparently crazy fast in the wind tunnnel.

I have learned my lesson:) The over under spoke lacing seems to create an unneccessary stress on the spokes. If the spokes did not do this they would be straight. What is the reason?

So despite all the great advice on this thread, I bought a pair of easton ea50 wheels for a very low price. Out of the box the rear hub was overtight which I fixed, but I presumed they were sonically tuned to perfection and they were true. Front is 24 radial with rear 28 radial non-drive, 2...

I noticed Voekler had very shallow rims too and quite a high spoke count. I had presumed carbon rims but maybe not....

I would take any wheel that can withstand a TDF. I would be interested to know if wheels make it the whole way or are swapped (even if just as a precaution), and if they are swapped, is it because of tyres or fragile wheels? I know sponsors take precedence but surely when teams are looking...

So what would you have if you could have anything and why?

First few days have been kind of beige. I will still watch but am hitting fast forward on the dvr way more than previous years. Rider helmet cams so we can see who causes crashes.

Thanks for the replies. I have never used or glued tubulars so the PITA comment is a perception. I am open to being converted if there are advantages:) Seems like race day only is the advice....

So I am thinking of making the switch to tubular tyres but have no experience riding them. I see three main barriers to entry, gluing - PITA compared to clincher, flats -hassle of carrying spare tyre compared to a tube, and price of tyres - much more expensive than clinchers. Benefits are...
