    108th Milano - Sanremo, 18th March 2017, 291 km, WT

You are right, Kwiatkowski still needed to have the confidence...and the legs...to do it, especially with a class act like Sagan. It worked out beautifully for him, and he knew exactly what he was doing. No good laying off if you don't have the ability to race back up to the wheel!

You'd only beat me because I'm fat and don't ride much anymore, not through tactical nouce. I've had this stuff hammered into me since I was a kiddie. Do you even know how to lay off the wheel in a sprint? He only laid off 1.5-2 lengths. Track sprinters lay off the wheel even more than that...

Rhubroma was spot on. It's old school tactics 101. Kwiatkowski would have deliberately laid off Sagan so he could race up to Sagans wheel in the slipstream. The idea is you get a bit of momentum by racing up to the wheel, momentum you wouldn't get if you simply step off the wheel and put your...

Pretty much this. Anyone around the sport in Victoria the early 90s knew first hand or heard stories of this skinny MTB teenager ripping the legs off all the local heroes (inc state and national champs and Aust reps) out at VFL park week in week out. Evans is a gifted athlete.

    Brits don't dope?

http://cyclingtips.com.au/2014/03/the-human-cost-of-gold-medals/ Billy Joe Shearsby. Made the team alright, was cruelled by the AIS afterwards. Anyone who's met him will tell you he is a likeable bloke. Classy rider too. Really classy. Looked a picture on the bike and was STRONG.

    Brits don't dope?

No subtext. Yeah, shared a bronze at Barcelona. I met Forsythe very briefly once. Just a knockabout Aussie country bloke who could jump high. I doubt he was on the gear, because I looked in his eyes and stuff ahahaha. No reason to believe he was a doper unless Thorpdale potatoes are now on...

    Brits don't dope?

He was from down my way. Extremely injury prone IIRC. Tall skinny beanpole. Marginally interesting side note. He was co-winner of the local sportsperson of the year award in 1992, along with Kathy Watt. An uncle was on the voting committee. He had trouble answering the old mans...
