Re: Re: His point, I believe, is that the very best riders tend to go very quickly from coming to some prominence to attaining a top top level. Examples of this would be Quintana, Landa, Aru, Bardet, Pinot etc who were on a high level were quickly after coming to prominence.

Re: Probably partly that and the classic problem of it being hard to attacked when you're fighting to not be dropped. I like to think as years pass and they become stronger they'll be able to attack at the tour in the same way they do in non-tour races.

Re: Not sure I agree with this. For sure Froome hasn't risen solo 10-15km full gas, but the pace set by the sky train, as demonstrated by the climbing times being set this tour, has been very high, meaning Froome has done the final climb full gas on pretty much every climb, just exhausting...

For me, winning a race involves successfully doing several things. One of those is completing the course in the shortest time. Another is passing all drugs tests. Failing a drugs test means you have failed to win the race. Whether others are doping or not is irrelevant, if you fail to pass all...

Am curious to see how Kwiatkowski does here. With him missing the tour, showing good form in the prep races and having a 39km tt that is right up his street I think he could put in a strong showing at this Vuelta

Re: Julian Alaphilippe Anyone know what happened on the descent? Before the Nibali, Heneo went down he'd got a little got on the rest and was gaining fast, then next time I saw him he was behind the chasing group. Did he get held up by Nibali/Heneo or hade a tumble of his own?
