Teams & Riders Mark Cavendish Discussion Thread

Who cares? I guess just people from the UK.

    Scheldeprijs, 204km, 1.HC 03/04/13

Don't think he will ever have the same success he had at HTC. Stapleton put everything into Cav and his train and still couldn't find a sponsor after HTC bailed from cycling. He will still win a few stages at the TDF, but he will not dominate like he did in the past. Times have changed.

End of taking the High Road?

Winning as many stages as they did didn't help with sponsors either, did it? No one cared to watch because HTC/Stapleton made the sprints so boring. Who wants to sponsor a team like that when no one is watching? No one, obviously. That's why they had to fold.

End of taking the High Road?

I'm curious as to how well Cav will do next year. I don't think any other team will give him the support that HTC did. He's still a great sprinter and certainly has the talent to win sprints without as much support. I forget which stage win he had in this year's Tour de France (maybe stage 5?)...

End of taking the High Road?

That's still not a big deal. I think they won the Tour of California one year, too, but, again, who cares?

End of taking the High Road?

Well said. Sprints used to be exciting before Stapleton and Highroad ruined it with their train for Cavendish. No one cares about how many stages a team wins, you actually have to win races. What major races did they win? All I can remember is two Milan San-Remos, and that isn't much. No wonder...

Why was postponement of the Contador hearing thread closed so quickly?

Thanks for giving me an honest answer, Hitch. Also thanks for telling me where to look on the link. I didn't realize the rules. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Yes, I did. Sorry I offended you. I actually have a life beyond cycling unlike yourself. I guess I have to go somewhere else to answer my question. Sorry I am not an expert like you.

Why was postponement of the Contador hearing thread closed so quickly?

The last quote from this thread is from August 2010. I was refering to the the thread shut down after today's announcement.

Closed after only 2 posts? Why? No one is allowed to discuss on this forum? Have lawyers ruined everything?

    Giro D'italia Stage 12 - Castelfidardo → Ravenna 184km

Cavendish has a much better train than anyone else.

Hushovd not entirely happy with Garmin-Cervelo

You could see how disappointed Thor was with this team in this season's "Beyond the Peloton" for Milan San-Remo. His face says it all during that meeting on the bus. Haussler didn't look to pleased either. My guess is both of them will be somewhere else next year. Good move in my opinion...

Garmin biggest cowards in today peloton

I agree. Thor and Heinrich see to be saying "What did we get ourselves into?"

    Cavendish and the classics?

Not a chance. Stick to the sprints and your lead out train, Cav.

The best sprinter the TdF has seen can't win the green jersey

Absolutely! Just like the early 2000s. Unfortunately, the sprinters you mention will never be able to compete against the HTC team/train who believe sucess is winning the most races even if the races are not that important. Perhaps that is the unfortunate economic reality of the situation. Saxo...
