Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

I'm flabbergasted by this most recent revelantion from Froome from every potential angle, for all the reasons alluded to so far. Is not being able to tell a 2cm deviation in reach and saddle height a sackable offense for a professional cyclist? It certainly would be if I was running a team and...

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

I think one's personal take on this will be determined by how much you wish to consider the fundamental nature of the team that's involved. These guys often spend more time with each other than they do their own families. They train with each other abroad for weeks on end, share hotel rooms...

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

Going by your distances I think it's safe to say Primoz was attacking between 2.3 and 2km to go then. ! Riding someone off your wheel and then not slowing down when they let you they can't keep up probably meets most definitions of attacking....

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

I'm just absolutely amazed that people think this is a sensible option in this context within any functional team - cycling or otherwise. TJV clearly had the top 3 GC Vuelta wrapped up towards the end of this stage. If Kuss were to have a random bad day or crash in the remaining stages and get...

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

The dynamic yesterday was completely different. Time gaps to rivals were different, and they were riding within a larger group. Letting Vinge head up to win the stage from the distance he was behind Kuss in GC was quite different to today.

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

I have to say I completely disagree with at least 50% of what you have written. There is far less nuance than you are implying into the correct behaviour of Kuss' teammates at the precise point they dropped him on this stage. This is completely different to the completely unrealistic scenario...

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2023, stage 17: Ribadesella/Ribadeseya - Altu de l’Angliru, 124.4k

Having just watched the end of the stage this evening, I am absolutely shocked that there is anyone who follows cycling who thinks that the behaviour of Roglic and Vinegaard today - and most importantly by proxy the TJV DS - was acceptable. TJV clearly have the race, and the top 3 positions in...

World Championships 2023: Men's Road Race (August 6)

For some reason there is something quite reassuring to me that Pogacar can't hold MVdP in this circuit after the carnage of RVV earlier in the year.

Genuinely looking forward to the sprint for silver too. What a great race.

Losing the upper boa shouldn't hinder him too much apart from in a sprint.

This is over 100%. He's flying on a course perfectly suited to him.

World Championships 2023: Men's Road Race (August 6)

He's had a lot of health problems. Inflammatory bowel disease if I recall. He has an unbelievably good win in the Giro a few years ago, looked unbeatable on that day. I think Pog has this personally.

World Championships 2023: Men's Road Race (August 6)

Bettiols break has worked out really nicely for Pog in particular. He's dangerous enough and got enough of a gap for it to be obvious enough that they have to work with each other properly and not pi$$ around with attacks etc. Be interesting to see what happens when they eventually catch...

World Championships 2023: Men's Road Race (August 6)

I think there is a decent chance of a non-favourite winning here in what is going to be a very unpredictable race. I thought Bettiol was under valued at 119-1; protected rider for a major nation, healthy throught the TDF, nice warmup in css. Very much an outsider but I thought it was worth a...

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

I've been highly critical of Sylvan Adams and his overall responsibility for this farcical situation that his team finds itself in. But I think it is only fair to point out that Froome throwing his toys out of the pram with apparently training and "diet going out of the window" on his...
