Commentary on TNT and other WB brands

Re: The thing is the stage lacked meaningful activity until the last 15kms and they hit the #1 professional problem cycling commentators have in such situations: running out of useful things to say. That's why they started saying all the non-useful things.

    Wiggins Discussion thread.

Re: Re: All true, but for once I think Sky will be happy. "Brand Wiggins" is huge for Sky. They even managed to get huge coverage for the Tour of California last year in UK media outlets that normally don't even cover the likes of LBL.

    2015-Volta Ciclista a Catalunya(2WT) 23-29.03

Re: Re: Normally, he's like a cycling ninja -- they don't see him until it's too late. IMO, he has to shoulder the blame for missing the split on the stage into Valls, though. He was thinking too far ahead and got caught out.

    Garmin cannondale

Re: Love Martin, but I don't think it's fair to blame Talansky. Danielson is 37 and hasn't been at the top level for a couple of years now. What would be praise for Danielson would just be patronising to Talanksy who did no more and no less than would be expected.

    2015-Volta Ciclista a Catalunya(2WT) 23-29.03

Re: The event website states the Cat 2 is 4.1kms @ 4.8% average. It's a wide road, though, which will mean there won't necessarily be any big acceleration before the bottom, and the descent is straightforward. The last couple of kms into Valls are flat but winding.

    2015 Paris Nice: St Amand-Montrond to St Pourcain-sur-Sioule 179km

He's not, but Voeckler's his team mate, the break has a decent lead, and a high pace over the last 40kms is to his advantage.

    2015 Paris Nice: St Amand-Montrond to St Pourcain-sur-Sioule 179km

C-cycling says Cocquard and with Voeckler and Gilbert in the break he sounds like a good bet.

    Garmin cannondale

Stage 4 should be ideal if Martin is 100%. It'll be interesting to see how they play it, as he'll be under a lot of pressure if the team's riding mostly for him. This is a very strong line-up that could do really well if riders are allowed to seek out their own chances in breakaways.

What do you mean by "we", white man?

Lance Armstrong: cheating at golf would leave me heartbroken forever A keen golfer with a handicap of 10, Armstrong admits to playing 250 rounds a year but whereas not playing by the rules in cycling led to him being stripped of his seven Tour de France titles, the thought of doing so on the...

2014 4th Tour of Beijing, October 10 to 14 (WT)

Garmin may have been more worried about Costa than Gilbert. I think Martin will feel that for the second year in a row he's needlessly left a GC win in China behind him because riding a more aggressive tempo would surely have seen off Gilbert (though perhaps it was really just a great...

    Dan Martin discussion thread

I agree there's no reason for the ambitions of either Talansky or Martin to frustrate those of the other. If I were Talansky the Giro would seem a very attractive idea to me, but the fact that he's a US rider may alter that picture. Regarding Martin's GC ambitions, it's clear that he has few...

    Dan Martin discussion thread

It's interesting to speculate on Garmin's 2015 schedule after Lombardia. Without Martin, even continued World Tour status couldn't be guaranteed but Talansky's TT ability and appeal to the US sponsors probably makes him their TdF hope once again. If Talansky could be tempted to go Giro/Vuelta...

    Il Lombardia 2014

The Garmin roster could be better but it isn't all that weak either. The thing is they're never favourites even if they can usually field a decent team. That means they score a lot of 'surprise' wins because the middle of their roster is really quite strong -- Slagter, Navardauskas and Hesjedal...
