The biggest factor is her age, she turns 37 in a few weeks. Time catches up with all skiers and dare i say it....it's starting to catch up with Diggins? This was her worst weekend in Davos in more than a decade and i thought she looked very tired in the 10k last week.
She looked in real trouble on the second lap(she confirmed as much after the race) but had an incredible pair of skis to get her back into the race at which point the controlled the race until the end.
The one thing that Frida did really well today, was the way she skied the downhills...
It's a sporting disaster for Johaug.
She came out of retirement purely for the 50km, she's leaves a World Championships without a Gold medal...this is Therese Johaug we are talking about. The greatest ever distance ski racer ever leaves without Gold is a sporting disaster.
The Swedes really do have some incredible skis today and throughout the Championship, unprecedented.
Johaug is just hanging on, simply doesn't have anymore to give.

Diggins had absolutely no glide which was obvious at the start of the race yet Posy finally gets to celebrate her bad technique as the reason for being so far behind.
Looks like similar weather conditions to the team sprint.
Assuming they all have equal skis(which they probably won't) i think Johaug wins easily, suspect the other medals could be decided by others trying to hang onto Johaug and paying the price at the end of the race.
