Not really, he was kind of bad on the climb in Amstel last year, only extracting himself from the chasing group on a false flat. This year he was setting the pace and dropping everyone but Skjelmose.

Remco with good legs likely crest Redout with Skjelmose and either still finishes third or is able to capitalise on Seixas blowing up catches him for 2nd. The question to me is why he was so bad on Redoute. Did he spent too much in the brake? Just a bad day? Does he suffers head to head with...

I don't think weight is the issue here, he was doing fine uphill last week (yeah climbs are a bit shorter in Amstel) and was decent in Catalunya. Today he was like the tenth best climber at best.

Good perfromance by Pellizzari, when he dropped the Ineos guys I thought he would gain more on the climb but he kept something in the tanks for the falseflat and descent, quite intellignet and calculated riding.

If you are that cooked by the end I don't think you that much margin to attack on the climbs. The other tactical possibility for Skjelmose/Gregoire was to not pull, and maybe be brought back by the group behind, were they both had a teammates, but also many opponents.

That was a strong sprint, way to go Remco. Remco was good overall, much better on than climb than last year. Skjelmose also really strong, but I think he was getting cooked by the end, he barely put up a resistance during the sprint.

If you look at it that way it make sense, but I doubt he will be ready for LBL if he missed significant training days

Cosnefroy should be there with Gregoire in the third row. Also, given what we saw yesterday, this race is too hard for TdG do be near the front. Del Toro maybe deserve some stars, but he is coming from a crash and even before he wasn't looking to hot in Basque.

The climb in Amstel are more like those in RVV without the cobbles. I would say that last year in Romandie it looked worse uphill than how it looked this year in Catalunya, although by that time is form was probably already declining, and last year he was not super strong on the climb but still...

The smaller distance made the race less selective and not every break is composed of Remco and WVA. Consnefroy and Gregoire were probably the strongest and still managed a good finish after beeing in the brake, TdG suffered a bit on the harder climb but I would say still a good performance.
