I heard from a Vancansoleil rep last weekend that they are planning on changing bikes.

I think I've heard they're going to have a headwind going into the climb. If my calculations are right they'll have about 12.25km into a head/cross wind with a 800m "climb" on the small crosswind portion, then do that climb. The stage could be interesting.

Should be at the very least a very scenic stage. I was up there riding about a month and a half ago and it was beautiful. Never ridden up San Marcos Pass but I've driven it and it's a pretty decent climb; it'll be a nice launch pad for the break. I'm surprised then didn't give Foxen Canyon...

Escondido's been trying to step up in the sports world for a while now between the TOC and their attempts with AAA baseball and the Chargers. At least the TOC acknowledges their support. I thought the City did a pretty good job with laying out the event.
