SRAM 2X10 = End of MTB Triple?

Actually, in 2x10 terms, a 26x36 is closer to the 3x9's 22x30. You're in effect losing two cogs of your bottom end. I think most will agree that a 22x34 is in effect a walking speed gear, as well as an outlier that just isn't very needed. Much like a 44x11. I remember very well the days when...

    Why is MTB racing dead?

That's not quite true. Tomac started in the dirt, going from BMX to MTB...then ran a couple of seasons in tandem; doing both Road and MTB schedules. Having more success on the dirt, he eventually made that his singular focus.

    Mobile Cyclingnews?

Daniel, thanks a ton for your reply, but I worry that it's something that will never be. Having worked in software development and having provided enterprise level web applications for the last 14 years, I know what actually means... It just seems, at least to me, that in 2010, not having an...

    Mobile Cyclingnews?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if you had any thoughts or current work going toward a mobile version of your site. I hate to say it, but I've been peaking at Velonews a lot lately, just because they have http://mobile.velonews.com/, but it has been starting to lack severely lately and I would...

    Is Cavendish pulling a trailer?

i stand corrected, that image must just be the perfectly un-perfect angle. if you look at some of the photos that theswordsman linked us to, you can see that he's still super lean. certainly at fighting weight.

    Is Cavendish pulling a trailer?

Sure, winter clothing is always to be taken in to account, granted. But just looking at the jawline area, and the fact that his stomach is dropping below his legs suggests otherwise. Here's another picture, from Ghent Wevelgem '09, I guess showing why I was a little surprised....

    Is Cavendish pulling a trailer?

Just noticed this pic, sure seems a lot heftier than last year, no? http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/photos/htc-columbia-warm-up-for-team-presentation-in-majorca/100767 http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/photos/htc-columbia-warm-up-for-team-presentation-in-majorca/100767

    Hincapie and Ferrari

If he doesn't get a vanity plate that says "PNTYDRPPER", then I've lost all respect I ever had for him. Once one has an F430, one is literally untouchable by any and all...all becoming rightfully small.

    Have bike makers gone mad?

A buddy of mine and I have joked about this often. It seems like the lot of us have gone mad. Here's a quick look at two products from the same company. One of them frequently goes 20mph a couple of days a week. The other one frequently goes 80mph every single day and lasts about twice as...

    Team Type 1 horror story

This message sparked something in me, as when I see someone trying to do right, I get a little angry when I see them getting lambasted for it. So I made 6 phone calls to a mix of TT1 male and female riders. Consistent across the board. 19 yrs old, never been away from home, and spoiled rotten...

    Team Type 1 horror story

Sorry, but this is a mix of flagrant lies and someone covering up for their own lack of organization or drive. I frequently ride with to of the TT1 racers, and with a few others last year. Additionally, I spend a very large amount of time in the caravan and in the pits of the races. These guys...

    DC and cycling the scene

    1. Get on the MABRA list. http://groups.google.com/group/mabra-uscf 2. There are TONS of people riding and racing in DC, but be patient in getting to know them. I never found them that helpful, but if I kept asking questions, I did get answers. 3. Here's a really neat route that you can knock...

    Poor innocent managers!

You know, Another angle that considers to bother me that I didn't bring up earlier is the amount of capital behind many of these teams. It seems so blatantly logical, that if you're the manager/boss, and your neck is on the line for something crazy like a 10 million dollar yearly budget, that...

    Poor innocent managers!

Yeah, I don't disagree with anything you say. I should also mention that I'm a natural cynic. And I've digressed on only my second sentence. I also agree entirely that the monitoring/whereabout system must be completely absurd to live with, but on the other side of the coin, what came first...
