    2013 Tour de France, stage 18: Gap - Alpe-d'Huez, 172.5km

The first ascent doesn't go to the finish line, so they will use the route from the second ascent, thereby skipping the first.

    2013 Tour de France, stage 18: Gap - Alpe-d'Huez, 172.5km

Here's one from June 24th http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43z6ds99DKk Having watched it, I doubt that we'll see the peloton climb Alpe d'Huez twice tomorrow.

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Yeah, that 5 minutes to draw a short map on g-map, take 2 screen shots and post was a huge time commitment on my part.

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

What that pic doesn't show is what direction the riders were travelling at that moment. At the top, the image shows 5.4km remaining in the stage. Using gmap pedometer I measured back from the finish to find out where on the mountain the riders were at 5.4km to go, and more importantly...

    Isn't doping inevitable?

No one is asking them to do it on bread and water. They have trainers, dietician, cooks, doctors, coaches, etc. Is it possible to ride a GT without doping? Absolutely. Look at cross country charity rides. Every year, thousands of people ride across the USA @ 100 miles a day. They are fit...

Official lance armstrong thread, part 2 (from september 2012)

It is a bike shop, but it is more of a merchandise store than a bike shop. When they interview mechanics, instead of asking them about their technical skills, the ask how quickly they can fold t-shirts. ;)

Maybe he is counting all of his tests, including the ones by his own doctors to make sure that his program was working correctly. A test is a test.

Hindsight 20/20, where did Andy lose it?

I voted ITT, but I think he lost it last year. The reason is that he appeared to think that he didn't need much of a gap going into the ITT. Andy mistook Contador's relatively poor performance last year in the final ITT as himself being good enough in the ITT. If he was as good in the ITT as...

    2011 Tour de France Stage 16 (18/7/2011): Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux - Gap, 162.5km

So it is OK for the climbers to win on stages that suit their abilities (mountains). It is OK for the sprinters to win on stages that suit their abilities (flat). It is not OK for the likes of Gilbert, Hushovd and Cancellara to win on stages that suit their abilities (intermediate). Right.

    skimresources.com

This is popping up every time I open a page on CN Forum. I did research and it appears to be a tracking my browsing. It is marketed towards website owners as a revenue stream. Is this intentional by CN? I don't care if it is, but if so, it needs to not open on every new page in CN forum.

The Benefits of the Finish after a Descent (vs MTFs)

I like stages that end with a descent after a mountain. They provide a different style of race while still placing a lot of importance on climbing. If you have too much flat after the descent, it ruins it completely. Flat should be 15k max.

Giro: what will the top 4 look like after the final TT.

Time gaps are too big at the front. No one will change order. I'd give Nibali a slight chance to overtake Scarponi.

    The Crostis Descent

Having never raced in the pro peloton, I don't think I'm qualified to judge the safety of the route from random pics and videos from the internet, which may or may not represent the current state of the road surface. This statement I do find curious, though: If it is a part of the...
