    Alternatives to Cyclingnews?

Most helpful, thanks! Though I think CN has improved since its launch debacle started, it looks like there may well be better TdF coverage elsewhere than CN. They still have a lot of work to do...

    New site design

Yes, I think that's what they are calling the carousel; I already voted to take it out. There must be some mandate to have it even though it's a terrible, useless waste of space and a flash eyesore - the poster child for web trash. Thus I proposed a compromise of making it only one headline tall...

    Alternatives to Cyclingnews?

Oh great, on that one the flash ads are sprayed throughout the content. Better to have them all on the far right where I can ignore or address them as a group and choose the ones to click. I don't think it's any better than the new CN.

    Alternatives to Cyclingnews?

Two suggestions Hi Laura here are two suggestions: Assuming it has to stay, make the carousel only one headline tall (not 5). Eliminate its flash graphic if possible; otherwise, if it absolutely has to be taller than the one-headline box, move the graphic to the right hand column. This would...

    New site design

Another thing... I know it's a hard problem, but there has to be a solution to the column 2 white space issue. It would be SO much better to be able to use that space for content/text. Thanks.

    Tiny font

Tiny fonts allow more information in the same space; information density is good in CN case. I don't think it's any smaller than the old site anyhow.

    New site design

Improving Not all: I've just used the new site for the second time since it was launched (and I started complaining about it; see my other posts if you want). I am pleased with the usability improvements that have been made since then: - It's more information-dense (except for the carousel)...

don't be a bimbo 1. Point taken; agreed 100%. 2. If she's got it going on, she can wear sweats to the big dance and steal the show; the old site was frumpy but the content was hot and the UI worked great. 3. What you have now is like wearing your skirt on your head and your high heels on your...

    New site design

Where do you stand? From post 840: Greg: Again, decouple the back end from the UI in your thinking. Your readers are not concerned with the back end and that's the way it should be. The fact that the back end of CN is different from BR is totally irrelevant to your readers, even though it's...

    New site design

User interface design To John, Daniel, Greg, and Stefan (and Future Publishing): I'm an IT and web professional and run an ad-sponsored site, as well as a long time CN reader. I've spent some days with the new site and read all 72 (and counting) pages of this post before commenting. I...
