    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

What a joke cycling is. I couldn't even watch the finish.

    Tadej Pogacar and Mauro Giannetti

THIS is the problem I have. And not just every race, different categories of races the normally require different skillsets or physiology.

Cycling won't be watchable until this guy isn't racing anymore.

    Dirtiest Rider

I remember Pascal Hervé saying that he was ready to take ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING in order to become and remain a pro and win races. Most unrepentant doper I have ever witnessed. Passed away at 60, may he rest in peace.

Reminds me of Geneviève Jeanson, and we all know how that ended.

    Tour De France 2024 Stage 8: Semur-en-Auxois – Colombey-les-Deux-Églises, 183.4k

I have seen the tour at least a dozen times over the years, this year was the best as I live in Dijon about 10 minutes from the finish. Had a place in the VIP stands so didn't have to stand for hours with the great unwashed . Of course you don't see much of the race but the ambiance is what...

    Paris Olympics 2024 (non-cycling) thread

France is also hosting the 2030 winter olympics, there are some pretty stupid people in high places.

    Paris Olympics 2024 (non-cycling) thread

So true. As I recall the 2004 Olympics were supposed to lead to the revival of Greece, the country ended up in a financial mess. Of course this wasn't only due to the Olympics, but there was a real oversell. The list is long.

    Paris Olympics 2024 (non-cycling) thread

Nothing personal, but you don't appear to understand the French culture - pomp, ceremony and political posturing is the point! And also inclusion - next up tiddlywinks as an olympic "sport" with it's own brand new, special purpose stadium!

    Paris Olympics 2024 (non-cycling) thread

France is a country that is on the edge of bankrupcy, but is spending 10s of billions on a 2 week sporting event that not many care about. Most intelligent countries now reject the idea of hosting the Olympics. Even outside Paris the Olympics are being shoved down our throats constantly, as if...

    The real Tennis thread.

It's starting to be pretty pathetic, though I was never a fan of his game. He is doing great at sucking up all the media attention though. Seems to me he hasn't made it past the first or second round in years (?) so I don't really see why this latest match was any different.

    Motor doping thread

53 year old sponsor of an amateur team (who also rides for the team) suspected of motor cheating before the start of a stage rushes off in his car injuring a race organiser who was trying to question him. His family restaurant business is also a sponsor of Astana. There was no prize money (or...
