Unless something changed in the middle of things, didn't Daniel Silva also signed with Lampre? That's why I made the "quartet" remark.

It seems like Bruno Pires will stay on the international peloton. Re-signed with Saxo? Completes a Portuguese quartet in Lampre? Goes to Cannondale?

    Transfers and Rumours 2013 > 2014

Considering the average age of Portuguese people keeps rising and bone/muscular/joint injuries/diseases happening more year over year, and most of those requiring physiotherapy... I fail to see how it's NOT a good future career for him.

After the end of the Volta, Rui Sousa had a reunion with his DS and he won't be continuing in Efapel for next year. Cesar Fonte won't continue on the team as well. http://desporto.sapo.pt/ciclismo/artigo/2013/08/19/rui_sousa_sai_indignado_da_efa.html

    75ª Volta a Portugal 7-18 August 2013 (2.1)

Lies. I live in one and the Volta won't pass here. Nor will it pass in the one right after ;)

Him being better at TT than 90% of the team doesn't mean that much considering that the riders aren't any good at that to begin with :P Speaking of Portuguese riders, anything else about José Gonçalves going to La Pomme? It might not be the biggest of jumps, but at least he'll be able to ride...

In completely unrelated news, the Associação de Ciclismo do Minho has in its calendar the realization of the GP do Minho, an usual race every year here in Portugal that didn't take place this year due to the fact that there was no money to pay for the police. Hopefully it won't happen again and...

Yeah, in the 4th most seen national TV channel (out of 4) smack dab in the middle of a multi-sports programming that barely anyone sees nowadays with the advent of sports-oriented cable channels. And those don't usually reach the half-hour mark. If 1000 people saw that, I would be surprised :P

I believe the promoters even had a proposition from Eurosport to air a "highlights" of the day for Algarve, but they even rejected that. I mean, sure, it would probably be on the wee hours of the night and would be passed by the general Portuguese population, but even the Volta gets that...

The thing is... they should have at least let it be televised this year, otherwise it won't get ANY exposition at all. Yeah, diehard cycling fans may know about it and it's one of those great small stage races in the beggining of the year that has a bit of everything (so many WT teams want to...

And now I really want Barbot-Efapel to race on Pro Conti level. Too bad they're Portuguese, so there's no chance of it happening :(

Commentary on TNT and other WB brands

Not to mention Martins' outright awful grammatical skills when he's caught red handed (and even when he isn't!). At least he isn't salivating after Cunego nowadays.
