We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
Flourishes? I thought the Giro Donne / Rosa almost didn't run this year. It seems to be well run, but it receives little coverage outside of Italy - understandable given that it's overshadowed by the Tour de France. There has been far more coverage of this petition in the mainstream press than...
Vos wants to challenge the Dawg for the yellow jersey!
In fact the UCI prohibits men and women racing against each other in any sanctioned race. It's only allowed for unsanctioned / "fun" races like the Amstel Curaçao.
Sporza showed highlights of the women's RVV this year (including interviews with the podium winners) although it wasn't until the end of the broadcast.
There was a Tour de France Féminin (also organised by the Société du Tour de France - now ASO) which ran between 1984 and 1989. I don't have details but apparently it ran alongside the men's race during the last two weeks (over shorter distances.)

Yellow Jersey > Stage > Green / Polka Dot Jersey > White Jersey
but stages give UCI WorldTour points.
And if a rider is interested in money, Lanterne Rouge is good since they can earn lots of €€€ at post-tour criteriums. :)
Disqualification seems a bit harsh for what is probably an error (mechanic forgetting to add ballast?) rather than intentional cheating. Maybe a time penalty would have been more appropriate?
Insinuations about fixed races / bribes / "financial doping" normally go in The Clinic.
If there really is a conspiracy to promote international cycling (by the UCI?) where are the Brazilian, Russian, Indian, and Chinese (BRIC) yellow jersey wearers?
Many riders experience the "curse" of the rainbow jersey, but for Cavendish it seems he's having worse luck with the British champion's jersey.
He wasn't too pleased with his bike yesterday...
I realise that the Specialized Evade has more ventilation than the Giro Air Attack, but I don't understand why they are being worn in the middle of summer during mountain stages.
Will Contador be wearing one on Alpe d'Huez?
