They should do that as just a road stage.

I would be curious to see the Col du Chaussy via the Lacets de Montvernier combined with the Madeleine summit finish.

Tour de France Tour de France 2024 route rumours and announcements

The Tour de France's inclusion of short Time Trials as the big TT event of the Tour is a joke. This years 22km affair is pathetic and weak from a race as prestigious as the Tour. The Tour de France courses have become a test of who the best climber is. Granted more TTkms probably would not have...

2023 Tour de France route rumors

My concern with the route and especially the development of recent routes is that the Tour de France tends to have a strong fixation to specific geographic regions. The result is that the perceived next years Tour de France route is more a Tour of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes than a Tour of France. The...

They should climb the Col de la Loze from the Courchevel side to avoid climbing/Descending the same section of road.

Maybe for a road stage you could include all three countries. In Stage 16 of 2009 They started in Switzerland, went through Italy and Finished in Bourg-Saint-Maurice. In total 159km. The Shortest possible route one could do including all three countries would involve going from the French/Swiss...

2023 Tour de France route rumors

We can hope that the Tour organizers do not include only a MTT and a TTT. After all these were the guys in power who designed the atrocious 2015 course that had a single useless Time Trial on the opening day and only a TTT additionally. The TTT itself was an interesting course but the lack of TT...

2023 Tour de France route rumors

Given the timing of the time trial after the stage to Morzine, I think that a return to Avoriaz as a mountain time trial could be in the works. After all, Morzine is no strange to the mountain time trial. Remember the 1994 edition. That was epic. Big Mig finished 3rd on the day and still lost 3...

If you added the Col de la Ramaz before the Joux Verse you would have 4 major climbs in 100km with virtually know flat.

I am surprised that they haven't used Samoens 1600 yet. It's a 10 k climb and 8.5% that could easily be stacked with the Col de Joux Plane.

2023 Tour de France route rumors

The 1996 Giro d'Italia was great. They had one Lengthy Time Trial with two Epic Mountain Days Following. Great Location. It was stage 19 of 22 and 62km Long.

2023 Tour de France route rumors

Let's be real though. 2012 was not actually a good course. Sure it had some innovations but realistically it did not have any great mountain days. Le Planche was a nice new addition and the following day was nice as well. The stage with the Grand Colombiere made the mistake of 2009's Col du...

That would likely put at least two days in the Voges. Perhaps we will see the return of Ballon d'Alsace as a summit Finish.

2023 Tour de France route rumors

I would like to see a stage from Albertville > Cormet de Roseland > Col de l'Iseran > Col du Mont Cenis > Col du Finestre > Sestriere. The stage would be roughly 220km and somewhat akin to the epic mountain day from 1992 when Claudio Chiappucci won. Of course they did not use the Col du Finestre...
