So Horner is looking for a team, IAM may need to sign more riders, is that a match?

    How dirty is SaxoBank-Tinkoff?

"Patxi Vila joins Tinkoff-Saxo as a directeur sportif after a modest career as a rider. He tested positive for testosterone in 2008 while riding for Lampre" I like the way CN puts that. Makes it sound like a requirement for joining TS :D

    Maxim Iglinsky positive for EPO

Yes fair point, and I totally agree with necessity of b samples. The issue I was trying to put was it will appear to outsiders that MPCC are cautious on one hand - the rule for cortisol is sensible - but are less cautious when 2 riders give positive tests. Of course both riders should have...

    Maxim Iglinsky positive for EPO

Not a particularly thought-provoking answer. Your point (re the subject matter) being? " DENNIS: Ah, now we see the violence inherent in the system. ARTHUR: Shut up! "

Great to hear of Crane's recovery http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/crane-continues-to-recover-from-life-threatening-crash Makes you wonder though, given the risks in following the team car in cycling, should they fit special safety glass in the rear window of team cars? I know windscreen...

    Maxim Iglinsky positive for EPO

Nice to see MPCC bringing 'Crédible' cycling back. Horner fails no UCI doping test but doesn't start his prime target for the season, due to MPCC rules, despite a reasonable explanation. (hard but fair, hurrah) Iglinksy however fails a clear doping test but thanks to MPCC legal loopholes...

Yes - don't think that tactic has worked again has it? Often see sky doing it lower on climbs these days, but without the same result.

    Wiggins Discussion thread.

Hazarding a guess, none :p To me Wiggins strength is his chameleon-like ability to change his form to suit the target, GC(climbing), track, TT etc made possible by modern training techniques - eg maximising strength/weight, aerodynamics, nutrition. Back in the 'classic' days riders were...

Think this description would be better posted in a Tony Martin thread! Don't get me wrong - I like Tony, but this week we saw finesse overcome brute force, a classy performance by Wiggins and his palmares says it all

    Vuelta a España 2014 Overview

Interesting to see Movistar hedging their bets with joint leadership Quintana and Valverde (How is this possible I see skyfans cry!) Perhaps reflects the feeling that its not enough of a climbers route to suit Quintana (although he still gets my vote in the poll thread).

    What are Valverde his intents?

'Doing something' will consist of trying to hang on to Nibalis wheel and hope Porte blows.

Has the green jersey lost its prestige?

The green jersey may not appear as prestigious this tour simply because Sagan has had little competition and a huge lead, so its not looking as exciting - its just getting slightly bad air time due to Sagan having green-but-no-win. Get another year when it is close, then its prestige comes...

    Tony Martin Bandwagon thread

Nice ride - watched him fail gloriously in final K in vuelta last year, great to see this one stick. Good to see a TTer show the strengths that can bring to a GT in the group stages as well as the specialist individual TTs.

Teams & Riders Peter Sagan discussion thread.

Chapeau Sagan - try a tough last 5K off-the-front attack, then when that gets caught in the last K have enough left to contest the sprint, losing only by a tyre-width. Of course as above comments on tactics, he would've probably won if he'd simply waited until the end, but it was a glorious...

    Wiggins Discussion thread.

They took Thomas despite his focus on classics. Wiggins can do a similar job, with perhaps a TT win possibility too. Point is SDB made sure Wiggins wasn't in the hunt - no altitude training camps or training with Froome etc. This wasn't a performance decision - it was a team politics...
