I tried it with a tiny bit of tube too and it didn't work. Then, instead of using tube I used tire (thicker but harder to place) and that worked for about 10 days. Needed re-doing. To locate the source of the problem I swapped out/replaced EVERYTHING, BB, rear axle bearings(4), cassettes...
