Kwiat Beats the wheelsuckers! Best thing of worlds?

They had Kwiatowski covered with a kilometre to go. 5 seconds down but Gilbert was spent. The rest of them decided to wait for someone else to bridge the gap. None of them deserved to win and only Gilbert who was riding for his team mate deserves any credit. One more turn would have done it...

Is Simon Gerrans the best ever Australian roadie?

That only shows that Rupert Guinness doesn't have a clue either. Gerrans is rightly in the pantheon of greats now but Evans is the best by a fair margin followed by Anderson. Gerrans doesn't have the ability of O'Grady or McEwan and Russell Mockridge was probably better than all of them but got...

Is Simon Gerrans the best ever Australian roadie?

Mentioning Gerrans in the same breath as Evans is a travesty! Evans is on another level completely and is the best ever Australian roadman. Anderson would be next and I would rate O"Grady and McEwan before Gerrans. Simon is a wheelsucking opportunist who has got the most out of his ability...

    Stephen "The Pharmacist" Dank

Given their performance last year, he should refund their money.

Cadel Evans is a Clean Champion

The reason he didn't bridge to Sastre in 2008 on the Alpe is because he had every other TDF contender sitting on his wheel unwilling to help. If he bridges across to Sastre, assuming he could, he leaves himself open to counterattack from the Sclecks who are just waiting to pounce. When you are...

    Cadel Evans Discussion Thread

Plenty of guys have of ridden well in the Tour into their late 30's. It's a mental battle more than anything. I think he can still mix it next year if his mind is right.

Should the Australian natinoal Road Race Circuit change?

It comes down to who is prepared to promote the event on such a scale and at the moment only Caribou Publications is prepared to do it and they get their sponsorship for the Championship out of Ballarat. If McEwan wants it somewhere else maybe he should do the hard yards and find sponsors and...

Don't forget the wind! Geelong can have some shockers at that time of year.

    Evans 2010 -what's changed?

I think Gerrans being leader at the world's may well have had more to do with what he was prepared to pay for support rather than whether or not Evans is a good guy. In any case it was stupid because Gerrans, tough as he is, as nice a guy as he is isn't half the bike rider Evans is.

Jean Francois Bernard rode it years ago. Won a stage into Bright or Beechworth if I remember correctly.

Top 10 Cyclists from your country of all time

Phil Anderson wore the yellow jersey in 2 Tours de France, won 2 stages, finished top 10 five times, won the Amstel Gold, Dauphine Libere, Tour of Switzerland, the Henninger Tower race when it was a big deal and finished 2nd in the Tour of Flanders a couple of times. That trumps OGrady as a road...

Top 10 Cyclists from your country of all time

Anderson at number 2 for mine and you need to find a spot for Russell Mockridge. He was streets ahead of Stephens, Peiper and Gerrans at the very least.

    Cadel looking ahead...

These things happen in cycling believe it or not. These guys are professionals, it's not always about the pride of riding for your country. If Cadel has won the title one out then it is an even more impressive ride.
