    Official London Olympics Doping thread

No idea, the italian article mentioned there are considerable risks in using a virus carrier. Bilharzia is a parasitic disease, not an virus AFAIK. Presumably the footballer is Messi as they are talking "primissimo piano" and there's previous but is Froome that famous?

    Official London Olympics Doping thread

Reading la Repubblica this morning I came across this report on "genetical doping". http://www.repubblica.it/speciali/olimpiadi/londra2012/2012/08/01/news/doping_genetico-40147339/?ref=HRER3-1 It speaks of two very famous athletes, one a footballer and the other a cyclist who have used...

So in what year was there a clean tour winner?

Nencini was a heavy smoker which makes his victory all the more amazing. I cannot watch the Tour anymore

Very poor Tour but that's not only because of any possible doping. The 100km plus of Chronos and lack of the right kind of finishes have killed it for me. Reminds me very much of that ridiculous Giro that Torriani set up for Francesco Moser. Same feeling of fixed inevitability about things.

    Tom Simpson Documentary

Felice Gimondi was in the studio at today's stage for RAI Sport (Italian State TV) and talked about Tommy Simpson while they were at the start of what was to be his final and fatal stage. According to Gimondi the heat was terrible and Simpson had joked it was "caldo da morire", deathly hot...
