Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

I agree- TTs are Remcos domain. The parcours clearly means Pogacar has a better shot than otherwise and if the race was at end of a GT it would be a game changer, but this is a one off TT and I expect Remco to prevail.

    Juan Ayuso discussion thread

He patently soft pedalled yesterday. This is less about going for opportunities when stage win opportunities present themselves per stage 7 and more about failing to give all when really there is no excuse - rest day tomorrow, already had a day to recover from his stage win.

    Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2025, Stage 5: Figueres – Figueres, 24.1k (TTT)

Difficult to see past Jumbo on paper even down to 7 - logically on paper Ineos probably have the next best team followed by UAE. However Trek, Jayco and Soudal tend to do well in these disciplines so would not rule out those from challenging even if on paper slightly weaker. Alpecin interesting...

Teams & Riders Derek Gee is the new G

is the situation with football different because of the governing laws that Belgium players’ contracts differ or general fifa rules re football contract as its certainly not the case that a player can just buy out a contract by paying the sum due for the remainder of the contract (there are of...

Teams & Riders Derek Gee is the new G

Genuine question for Belgiums. How does this work in practice. Can anybody terminate a fixed term contract in exchange for payment - if so what is the mechanism for the amount.

Teams & Riders Cian Uijtdebroeks - From the wetlands to the top of cycling

Tough luck for Cian today- it looked like he just hit the wall at the wrong time- had to race the way he did to get the gap but guess he was in the red too long and paid in the end. Still a promising set of results with San Sebastian' l'Ain and Czech Tour. Longer term I suspect he lacks the top...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

It all depends on any weighting one applies to the level of competition. It is incoceviable imo that Pog ends up with as many monuments and GTs overall as Merckx. For me however the numbers whereas instructive will not be determining for what is anyway a subjective question. Assuming Pog...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I could see him riding Suisse as prep for the Tour as he has not won that as yet. Otherwise I suspect it will be- Strade MSR E3 or GW Ronde Roubaix Amstel or Fleche LBL Dauphine or Suisse Tour If he feels he needs a stage race early he may go back to UAE Tour.

Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Good move for him to try and maximize his GT potential. I would also like to see him ride MSR next year in addition to AGR and LBL. More importantly I hope he has an unscathed winter so that he has the best opportunity to perform to his potential - whatever that may be. He is clearly obsessed...

Teams & Riders The Great Big Cycling Transfers, Extensions, and Rumours Thread

Roglic has one more year - they may go Roglic and Pellizari for Giro and Remco, Florian for the Tour with Pellizari acting as domestique. Is Hindley still there next year?

Who is the better Classics cyclist between Tadej Pogačar and Mathieu van der Poel?

Think it is pretty obvious Pog is the best all round classic rider as he's pretty much the only one who can compete on all fronts In terms of monuments and in particular outright wins (in other classics)it is obviously much closer- MvP Vs Pog they are both heavy favourites in 2 of the monuments...

Teams & Riders Tadej Pogačar discussion thread

I disagree - world and Olympic TTs are clearly big wins. Obviously not as big as their road race equivalent (Worlds RR being the biggest one day win imo) and I'd rank below a monument - but still worthy of inclusion
