We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
Re: Moto-fraud: first rider caught
I think it's a Shimano feature to control the Garmin screen.

That or some tic when he's on the limit.
It certainly isn't a motor switch. Otherwise the battery was flat.
Another series of posts by Sniper praising my fairness and transparency.

Only to reverse course again a short while later.
The lack of consistency is appalling.
Re:
Once again fairly typical of how you distort or misrepresent facts and how you omit information to suit an agenda. So let me educate you and correct you once again.
1) In my post above I did not say Uli's stance was hypocritical. I said it was inconsistent with someone in a position on an...
Re:
Thank you for the succinct summary DP.
I have no objection to Uli being fervently against doping. I am too. However, his methods are not compatible with someone who sits on an anti-doping committee. He is also highly resistant to honest engagement as per the summary of the discussion you...
Re: Re:
Thanks Gillian.
I don't deny that some may have had the perception that these tests were to assess whether there was any evidence of doping.
However, this was not something I have ever perpetuated and certainly not why I agreed to perform the testing.
This forum interaction is rather slow.
Forgive me but I am on holiday and need to spend time with my family.
Will respond to further comments tomorrow.
Re:
Yes. I have tested many top international athletes with high body fat %. There is an assumption that they are all lean. Many of them struggle with their weight.
And 17% can look lean on certain somatotypes. Froome looked absolutely emaciated when we tested him but was at just under 10%...
Re: Re:
On the first point - This is a forum discussion and so it doesn't really lend itself to doing research between responses. I was under the impression they were on Stages and made a point related to that.
With regards to the fax:
If I had not been in correspondence with the...
Re: Re:
By "The limits of human performance" I refer to the recorded distribution of VO2 max values collected over a period of approximately a century of research, starting with the work of AV Hill in 1922. This data has a normal distribution as does most physiological variation. The VO2 max...
Re:
Honest mistake here. I should have checked. I assumed they were already using Stages.
So the power data doesn't really tell us anything if he was using an SRM.
Re: Re:
This post is not really making much sense.
There are HR data for every second of the test for the sub maximal data set.
HR is linearly related to power. You don't need to be a scientist to work out max HR.
The question is what that would tell you. Nothing of relevance, that's what...
Re: Re:
I think the key point that needs to be addressed is that physiological testing does not confirm or refute the use of prohibited substances.
You need specific evidence relating to those and all these vague circumstantial bits of evidence only serve to muddy the water.
One thing we...
