    General Doping Thread.

Ali Abdelaziz tweeted: "TJ going through what he’s going through. He’s already dealing with a lot of problems. But @Cody_Nolove those 2 losses should be no contests. Usada doing a horrible job testing guys for EPO, I know at least 5 ppl who are on it"...

Timing of EPO in early 90's that doesn't add up..

Screenshots from "When Heroes Lie" (2012): "It is theorized that finnish skiers started using EPO in 1989." Finnish XC skier Erja Kuivalainen told finnish police that she saw an EPO-bottle in team mate Marjo Matikainen's hotel room prior to the world championships in february 1989...

I think that's propaganda from the "endurance sports are clean now" brigade of liars. Remember the Ashenden micro-dosing study? A 10% increase in Hb mass without triggering the ABP. That's huge.

No, that's a bad take. The doctor lead investigators to the athletes, not the other way around. It's not like FIS noticed that a kazakh living in Estonia had some wonky blood values and called up german authoritites and asked them to investigate. The FIS and ADA's likely had nothing to do with...

Re: Sprints don't matter, tour wins based on bonus seconds don't matter, winning a pursuit with a 15s head start thanks to bonus seconds by sucking skis to the finish strait on a laughably easy course does not matter. Bolshunov is a better skier than Klaebo. Ebba Andersson is a better skier...

60 bonus seconds per sprint race and 45 per mass start is way excessive. Especially when there isn't a single race above 15k. What are FIS thinking with the gazillion bonus secs? It aint conducive to an exciting race.

Thanks for the clarification, but having a Hb below 16.4 and retics below 2.9 is not very strong evidence of cleanliness, even before the ABP. Look at Rasmussen and Landis.

Wrong. "Of the skiers tested and finishing within the top 50 places in the competitions, 17% had "highly abnormal" hematologic profiles, 19% had "abnormal" values, and 64% were normal. Fifty percent of medal winners and 33% of those finishing from 4th to 10th place had highly abnormal...

Re: I beg to differ. Cologna has won 13 individual major titles (4 olympic golds, 1 WCH gold, 4 overall WC, 4 TdS), Northug won 11 (1 olympic gold, 7 WCH golds, 2 overall WC, 1 TdS). Most importantly, Dario's 4 individual olympic gold medals across 3 olympic games blows Petter out of the water.
