The 2.2 ranked Tour of Borneo was a new race on the asian calendar last year and they raced us up the first portion of kinabalu at the end of a 220k stage. Except it was only ~10k of climbing. The race is on again this year so perhaps they'll take it a notch further
Event organisors do not enjoy great leeway in regards to the timing of their events if they want UCI status. I thought the Sun Tour was evidence enough of that.
Tomo is alright.
He makes the effort to come out to small Aussie NRS races and works hard to help promote the NRS and the local sponsors.
He says some silly things. But he is a tireless worker and his heart is very much in the right place.:)

It'll be a good step up, but given the amount of riders on the market and being so late in the season, whether it be good euro conti, pro conti or world tour kinda depends on a bit of luck at this stage.
That's not because he can't climb it's because he has not been used as a climbing leader.
He has WR pursuit power and weighs less than 70kg. That=climbing ability in any language.
The finish to todays stage is going to be mighty interesting, wind forecast isn't massive but the section from torquay to ocean grove is always windy. A couple of right hand turns where it'll get thrown in the gutter. probably won't shatter like the stage to warnambool in 09 where wiggo...
