Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Riding 3 hours a day is hardly anything. A lot of people spend 3 hours a day on their commute to work.

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

Re: He actually did. He lost almost 2 minutes to Chiapucci in '92 up Sestriere and lost time to Hampsten up Alpe d'Huez. Or Virenque and Pantani on one of the mountain stages in '94 (I think 12?). Of course, it's a lot easier when you're 7 minutes up in GC already on the back of a fairly...

Re: Re: Do you want me to point out all the points you've dropped or misrepresented? It would be a long post. And I'm not sure if it's worth the effort. Like I said, if you want nothing to be dropped, stop splintering the argument into a bunch of little pieces, which I warned you about the...

Re: Re: Did Zulle not end up on the podium? It seems strange to say you "smashed everyone" when the man who would end up your chief rival puts 2 minutes into you. But to each their own, I suppose.

Re: Re: Quoting two sentences isn't making a point. This is some twitter-level attention span. If you want people to not "get away with ignoring other [arguments]" you reply to the argument presented. Fragmenting posts into a bunch of tiny splinters is how you pretty much guarantee that you...

Re: Did you just out your sock? And I like how people like to assume that just because I enjoy looking at old results and seeing if the data supports the assertion, that I never actually watched the races. I've probably watched as much racing as you have, and my eye test is just as valid as...

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

This debating style is obnoxious. Debate the entire point, not segmenting things down into easily manageable soundbites that you can take out of context to try to score points. It's so prevalent on the internet and every time I see it, it makes an otherwise interesting discussion into a chore...

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

Re: Re: Too much mythology here Dumoulin's margin at last year's ITT world championships was definitely in the same ballpark as Indurain's margins. Especially when you consider that Indurain's one (1) ITT world championship came with "only" a 49" margin over 43 km's. Time trials aren't really...

    2018 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Jerusalem - Jerusalem ITT 9.7 K

Re: 2018 Giro d'Italia, Stage 1: Jerusalem - Jerusalem ITT 9 That really is dependent on context. Dumoulin probably won't destroy himself chasing Aru if it's pre-stage 16. He knows he can probably make up close to two minutes on someone like Aru in the TT. If it's after stage 16, a lot of...

    Contador vs. Froome

Re: Re: Who are the top tier GT riders who are targeting the Vuelta specifically? It's the Vuelta. Almost every rider has tired legs.

    Rigoberto Uran discussion thread.

He's more of an opportunist rider than an aggressive one. But I don't think it's fair to label him as someone who doesn't attack when he sees a chance. But who would have thought that in the 4 Tours Froome completed as a team leader, that it would be Rigoberto who was the closest to beating him.

    Contador vs. Froome

No chance he doesn't focus on Tour #5 no matter how he does the Vuelta. Contador isn't as popular as Valverde in Spain for sure. It's probably more to do with Valverde riding for Spanish teams his entire career though.

Teams & Riders Chris Froome Discussion Thread.

Re: Re: The Giro isn't "often" won by over the hill riders. Competition aside, the parcours on the Giro are probably the hardest of any GT. He should definitely keep racing the TDF as long as he can win the race, because TDF wins > any other GT by a healthy margin. But it would not surprise me...

Teams & Riders Alberto Contador Discussion Thread

Re: Why not? Just because he's not a contender for the win anymore doesn't mean he doesn't add a good deal of entertainment for the race. Watching everyone surf behind the Sky train until 5 km before the final climb is not entertaining racing.
