Teams & Riders The "MVP" Mathieu Van der Poel Road Discussion Thread

It is a failed spring season for him, but that also shows what the expectations (rightfully so) are around him that anything less than winning a monument is a failed season. Winning Omloop and E3, two stages at Tirreno, and still concluding your spring season is extremely disappointing shows...

In many ways I found his performance Today more impressive than many of his monument wins. What a truly impressive ride.

Teams & Riders Official Wout Van Aert thread

He wins the momument that suits him the best. Well-deserved win, after all the bad luck he often encountered in this race, he merits to be in the palmares of the greatest of all monuments.

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2026, monument, April 5 (men's)

Credits due where credits are due to Wielerflits. They've had a surprisingly impressive track record for juicy scoops (Dumoulin to Visma, Evenepoel to Bora, Uijtdebroeks transfers, now Evenepoel in de Ronde).

It's a clickbait-attracting website for sure, but with these things, they are normally pretty well-informed.

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2026, monument, April 5 (men's)

You were blathering about people on this forum, stating that too many state that MvdP is unbeatable in Flanders and that many are underestimating Pogacar. Where exactly is Pogacar underestimated if the public opinion is that he'll win on Sunday easily?

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2026, monument, April 5 (men's)

That's a Flemish pundit, not a forum member. And that isn't a crazy take at all, given that that's what happened last year. Last year, before RvV, the take that MvdP had a fair shot at Flanders wasn't a crazy one at all, given that A) he won E3 convincingly and B) his worst result in this race...

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2026, monument, April 5 (men's)

Who exactly underestimates Pogacar? Who's stating that MvdP is unbeatable? Two things that I haven't read in a while on this forum. You are making stuff up.

The thing with MvdP is, he never sucks wheels. Feels like an unwritten rule in his playbook that he should cooperate, regardless the situation. If I were the Roodhoofts, I'd advise him to ride a bit more defensively in the part between second Kwaremont and the Koppenberg.

Ronde van Vlaanderen 2026, monument, April 5 (men's)

He was sick between E3 and RvV. He never used it as an excuse but everyone around him confirmed he was under the weather quite a bit.

To attack on the Boigneberg while having an extremely strong Planckaert with you (and a very strong Del Grosso just behind) is quite something. Now he had to pull the entire 20km before the Paterberg with full-on headwind, truly one of the stupidest moves I've seen in a while.

What a lovely, complete rider is he becoming. Truly a joy to watch his development.

    Strade Bianche 2026, March 7, one-day race

Crows don't tell the whole story; they are influenced by the weather in cycling just as much. It's TV viewing that would give you a fairer picture.

    Strade Bianche 2026, March 7, one-day race

I mean, I can't blame Pogacar for reaching his monstrous level, but another year like this ain't good for this beautiful sport.

Decathlon CMA CGM Team once needed a thread

Plus, if Kooij really has a Laporte-like virus, the Tour might even come into question. Deploying Seixas at the Tour this year (what has been rumoured in the French press),, feels like madness. Given the media pressure that will be put on the kid, going into the biggest bike race as a...
