    WC Ponferrada 2014. Altimetry

I lived in Ponferrada 3 years. The ITT is great in my opinion. Martin and Cancellara will do good and have their chance, since the first 30 km are not only flat but straight. The last 3 kms are a nightmare, really steep. They should try to balance those 10-12 minutes of hard climbing with the...

    Vuelta a España 2012

I like your idea, for me it makes sense.

    Great "unknown" climbs

I cycled up to Paso Libertadores, and up to Tafi del Valle from the Cafayate side, and in several other passes in the Andes during a cycle trip. Those 2 are long but as quite often in Central Andes they wouldn´t be so difficult in competition given that they are not very steep. In my experience...

Copenhagen 2011: Junior Men TT 27.8km & Women TT 27.8km

Good option for the next year I hope. The guy has a strong head aside from those good genes. I live in the same village and when in the winter I see him and his friends riding in the snow, well under 0 degrees, I understand that cycling at that level is for very very few.

    Ranking this year's GTs

A GT where half the contenders are out due to accidents in the first week is a catastrophically bad GT. Vuelta the best for me this year, exciting till the end. The Giro was gorgeous, but probably too hard for encouraging someone to fight Contador back in his own terrain.

Allowing kid to ride bike to school = Child negligence!?

The world is crazier than ever. They should fine the parents that allow and sometimes even encourage their children to get morbid fat. Also the drivers not respecting speed rules and common sense when there is a child cycling, or any other biker. Sad.

    2011 Vuelta a España - Stage 13: Sarria - Ponferrada 158.2 km (2/9)

There is plenty of room for carnage in the stage. Those 60 kms are by no means like going down to Pau. Lumeras and Ocero are short but break the rhythm. Their descents are fast and a group of favorites could get rid of the concurrence by attacking in Ancares. The roads are tricky and invite to...

    Lidl-Trek (no longer Radioshack-Leopard Trek)

Makes sense, both economically and from a sporting perspective. Anyway the priority of the Schlecks should be to separate into different teams. I do not like Bruynnel, RS, and the Schlecks, so it would be good for me

    Great "unknown" climbs

Yeah, there are a diversity of opinions about which pass is higher (and motorable or not). I read something from Janne Corax (Swedish adventurer) saying that there is a higher motorable road somewhere in Tibet (I cannot locate a link). IMO it is a bit useless discussion, since as someone...

    Great "unknown" climbs

No, Khardung La is about 5600 m, it is the higher in the region (at least). Check this: 18380 ' = 5602.224 m

    Great "unknown" climbs

I have to quote this one :) The asphalt is good enough but just passable from June to September. Gradients are not impressive (max about 8-9%, and most often around 5%), but of course height is the biggest issue, specially between the Nakeela Pass and the Taglang La. I got pretty sick there. It...

Colombian Andes: Bucaramanga to San Gil

I climbed it, nice area with lots of different landscapes and some good gradients. They have used it in Vuelta a Colombia, but I do not know when. People we met in the route told me. I wrote some stuff about the climb (not much) http://going-south.tv/san-gil-and-the-chicamocha-canyon/ We...

Vuelta a Espana Stage 9: Villacastín - Sierra de Bejar. La Covatilla 183,0 km

Van den Broeck and Anton for the win  The climb becomes very hard from the km 12 to the 16, just when it becomes also very exposed and barren, with some strange and sticky curves. It will create havoc and it is a good opportunity to try geting some time to JRod before Angliru and Peña...

Vuelta a Espana, Stage 8: Talavera de la Reina - San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 183km

Why the hell Freire withdraws?? I don´t get it. I think he may do something big in Copenhagen. Is he jumping the next 6 hard days because he may be better-off with more specific training?

Vuelta a Espana, Stage 8: Talavera de la Reina - San Lorenzo de El Escorial, 183km

IMO today they ride a mountainous stage, with about 3000 m of climb. The last of the climbs is short (3,8 km), but it is a proper climb and not just a short wall.
