Jonathan Tiernan-Locke written to by UCI, asked to explain blood values

The majority here seem to be pointing fingers at Sky but this is Endura/personal doping. Sure he went to a training camp with sky, but do you realy believe they would dope a rider they had not yet signed. The only reason I can see for contesting the findings was to drag out time until his...

Peter Kennaugh has spent large amounts of time ill/not racing during his time with sky. Most years he has only finished a handful of races.

Teams & Riders Froome Talk Only

Although you're jesting, in my opinion the success of both Wiggins and Froome is based on their very low body fat/weight. The question is how do they achieve and maintain this without any apparent drop in power or getting ill.

It was 2013 kit. It is not unusual for pros to sell off excess kit (and Sky riders get a lot of kit). They normally sell via local bike shop or club. In his current situation, this might not have been appropriate.

Who at sky advised against signing him? I agree that he should have gone to Garmin.

Even towards the end of last season Brailsford must of had some faith in JTL. He went to the Canadian races with Froome as part the GB team worlds build up. Interestingly, he looked to be going OK in Canada, not on 2012 form, but solid rides.

Thinking back, I think it was a just a rumour that the Rapha had something to with Staite's testing. I seem to recall that Staite stopped racing after being tested after a race and people guessed why.

It was JTL's team (Rapha Condor Sharp) who reported Staite's suspicious performance.

    JV talks, sort of

Liquigas attempted to wear everyone down under the false assumption that Basso would be the last man standing.

    Wigans goes there. Cadence!

Wiggins "attack" was carefully controlled. He throttled back pretty quickly as he realised that he was going into the red. The reason he was able to bridge back to Valverde and Rodriguez was because he didn't go with their acceleration and kept to a more constant pace.

Its not just about training harder, but smarter. If you're training for the classics a 5 or 6 day block might of work might not be the best structure (a lot of sky/BC training is based on 3 day blocks). In a stage race you have no control over terrain or distances and the top guys may need to...

Race Radios: Better Olympic races without?

The problem is that the DSs don't tell the riders "be careful on the next roundabout" the message is "get in the top 20 before the next roundabout". In the top level races there shouldn't be any "hazards" that riders need warning about.

Race Radios: Better Olympic races without?

I think the compromise is to allow one rider per team to have a radio. That way a DS can still have some communication with the team without having such instant control over every riders actions.
