Yeah, this climb is really too easy for a MTT but thanks to it maybe Teddy won't crush the competition and the gap will be moderate (read: under a minute). Mt Ventoux time trial would be epic.
It definitely looks like Pogi can distance the second guy by a minute at least (again I didn't expect such a gap before but today changed everything). If Vingo gets better tomorrow maybe he can limit his losses to 40 seconds or so or...maybe not.
Ventoux is very prestigious. It used to be the hardest climb in Tour history (until Loze'2020) and it's the most legendary. If Pogi wants to win any stage remaining it's this one.
Maybe at least Vingo will take revenge next year and win Flandres + Liege. His explosivity is getting better while Teddy is slowly but surely turning into a diesel, right? :p
Agreed. If Vingegaard can't regain his absolutely top form (or even more than that) all stage races with Pogacar will be so predictable that it's scary. Vingegaard is an outlier in his own right and it may take a long time before anyone of his climbing calibre appears. Pogacar's decline could...
Is he the third best climber in the world right now? Could he have won the Giro in this form? Interesting questions. If the progress continues he may become the 2nd best climber soon.
Good prediction. At that time I still suspected it was a day off. Vingo is clearly missing sth in longer efforts while his explosivity is better (but way less important in a GT)
