    João Almeida - Bota Lume

He says that if he manages to win the Vuelta his goal will be to win the Giro next year and complete the triple.

Hinault back in his heyday punched a protestor and got a race going. Let's see if Teddy is the real patron of the peleton.

Almeida is not explosivity master though :tearsofjoy: Those Vuelta climbs are like sprints for him: he needs Veleta, Teide or Los Muchacos.

Yes, Almeida would have to be considerably stronger than Vingegaard to win the race.

Not that good performance but he defended himself decently (it would have been pretty bad if he hadn't on such a short course). It's all about surviving Bola del Mundo and win the Vuelta: 40 seconds is a decent gap but not insurmountable of course.

Let's just say I was more criticizing Matxin than Ayuso (if the DS freed him from duties after he won a stage then it's not his fault). Obviously his strong pull could've saved Almeida some seconds (if he had form of course).

Vingegaard and Almeida were quite close for a long time (within 10 seconds). Ayuso's strong pull (if he had form of course) on that section could've helped Almeida weather the storm until the shallower section.

That's the way it's. Almeida would surely have been closer. Who knows, Ayuso's lack of work on stage 9 could turn out to be quite crucial (but GOAT director Matxin freed his beloved Juan from any duties). Let's just hope Bola del Mundo stage will actually take place! (protestors from Madrid can...

Yes, Bola del Mundo is a proper HC climb (in Tour terms) that could produce substantial gaps. In Vuelta there are few steep climbs with 1000+ vertical meters. It could produce 30-40 second gaps in both ways actually: in Almeida's or Vingegaard's favour. It's really not clear who's stronger or...

I think location factor (Rwanda, vaccinations, risk of infections) also contributed to the absence of guys like Vans and Vingo. As for Pogacar, it's great that he's trying all those kinds of races but this particular TT is probably his best chance to beat Remco and get gold. On more "classical"...

    Vuelta a España 2025 discussion

Bola del Mundo could be problematic. It's located in Sistema Centrale mountains, just about 50 km from Madrid. A lot of protestors could come there. The finish of the race could be the worst in recent memory.

Yeah, they were pretty honest about yesterday. Vingo didn't feel good and was happy that he didn't lose any time. He shouldn't complain about shortening of the TT either.

Did Jorgenson just say Teddy is the GOAT? Wow, Le Patron may temporarily erase him from the black list.

12 kms instead of 27 kms? This race is turning into a farce! Don't count on Bola del Mundo either, the GC is set.

He would be totally gassed after Tour-Vuelta double. Without Vuelta he could've done well there.
