We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
If the bio passport can't detect such a strong boost then it's pretty much useless nowadays (it definitely wasn't the case in 2010s during the great "slowdown").
Pogacar crushed the competition on a super hot stage finishing in Hautacam and was super strong during hot days of Tour 2024 as well. If anything, I would say his performance in cold conditions (relative to his rivals) isn't that impressive anymore.
Pogi also started training and eating like a pro only recently (in 2024). According to his own words his first years in UAE were more "amateurish" (only pasta) while now it's total pro stuff (porridge, rice etc) elevating VO2max to the sky.
Obviously MVP is Pog's only real rival now and their competition should lighten up some spring classics. MVP on his own turf can beat Pog. The question is when anyone else will be able to break Pog's dominance during all those hilly/mountainous races constituting the majority of the WT. They...
Froome's 2013 was very impressive, 2015 & 2016 to a less extend. He was very beatable in 2017. Top-form Rogla could've beaten Froome a couple of times. Then again, peak Roglic hardly ever finished the Tour.
Maybe Trine is right. Houseworks can help Vingo develop more explosive attacks.
Grischa and Visma performance team look like amateurs compared to the all-knowing wifey.
It really depends on the level difference. If it's sufficient no group attacking will do. It payed off at the Tour 2022 because Vingegaard was just too good: he was never troubled by Pogacar in the mountains that year. Obviously Lipo is still young and can improve, Remco too. They would need a...
So no Milan San Remco again? How disappointing. One one the best one day racers, who is in the middle of his career, has done only two monuments out of five.
