    Andy Schleck Discussion thread.

If Oscar Pereiro won the tour... then so did Andy. If not... then you could call them vacant I suppose like they did with Lance's. But Contador certainly didn't win it.

    Slaying the badger

I think by '94 it was widespread. But it probably started entering in '91 and '92. When you see riders like Rominger and Riis who were about the same age as Lemond and Hampstein come out of nowhere in the '92-'94 range... well that says something. I'm not sure if it's appropriate to talk...

    2014 US Pro Challenge, Aug 18th-Aug 24th (2.HC)

I don't know why, but I really like this quote from Howes: "I have no hopes and dreams of crushing the Vail time trial, since I can't time trial my way out of a wet paper bag."

    Slaying the badger

Lemond may not have won a ton of classics, but he had some finishes of note. 2 WC wins, 2 2nd place finishes. 2nd in Lombardia 3rd in Liege 4th in P-R 2nd in MSR Up until he got shot, Lemond tended to race about the same type of schedule as anyone. His teams tended to be...

    30 for 30 - Slaying the Badger

Again... I feel like what I'm trying to say isn't coming across right. Yes, there are guys who are proficient at both GT's and major classics. But in general, the guys who are favorites in classics are rarely if ever favorites in GT's and vice versa these days. Yes, Valverde won a Vuelta...

    30 for 30 - Slaying the Badger

I don't know if Hinault's career could concievably have been much better in regard to GT's then it was. His record was incredible. From '78-'86 he entered 13 GT's. He won 10 of them, finished 2nd in two others and withdrew once. That's pretty hard to improve on.

    30 for 30 - Slaying the Badger

If you don't win one? I don't know. I wouldn't think so. The guys who have lots of results in major classics seem to not win GT's and the guys with a number of GT wins tend to not have many results in major classics. Back with Hinault, Fignon, Lemond (and pretty much every generation...

    30 for 30 - Slaying the Badger

Well, I meant that over their career a given GC guy might have 1-2 results, not that GC guys wouldn't finish near the front regularly. Let's look at podiums in big classics for Tour winners over the last few years. Nibali - 3rd MSR, 2nd LBL Froome - none outside of ITT's Wiggins - none...

    30 for 30 - Slaying the Badger

Thanks for the link. Lemond's 1989 Tour was my introduction to cycling as a kid. Probably the only reason I'm a fan... if it had been a more "typical" tour I'm not sure I would have been hooked like I was. It was much later that I learned about the details of the '86 tour. Watching...

    2014 Tour de France July 23, Stage 17: Saint-Gaudens - Saint-Lary-Soulan Pla d'Adet 1

He should probably lose any mountain points from the top of the climb. Cheap move.

So Rodriguez should hitch a ride with a motorbike up to thenext group and pay the fine as well I suppose. If it won't cost them in the standings, why not?

Is that legal? Could he get a decision by the organizers against him for that... costing him points perhaps?

Hmm... guess Tejay has recovered somewhat from his bad day yesterday. Half expected to see he had been dropped.

So... If nobody finishes between Rodriguez and Majka, Rodriguez will get the jersey tomorrow even if Majka wins the sprint at the finish?
