    Olympics Doping Thread

Re: Re: Maybe so but you're missing the point. Expecting a spirit of fair play is a sizable assumption in the atmosphere of world class athletics. I try to apply skepticism more evenly on "clinic" related mattters.

    Olympics Doping Thread

Re: Re: Haha. That's a bit naïve don't you think? Setting aside all of the complex gender issues with Caster, why on earth would you assume she is competing on bread and water?

Universal's Gogulski Questioning Quintana's Basque Country Performance

Americans are very guilty of exceptionalism but then almost all individuals/groups exhibit superiority bias to some degree. Another common occurrence is outgroup bias and more specifically outgroup homogeneity of which you're very guilty in the above post. I'm of the opinion 2 wrongs do not...

When is the smackdown on Chris Horner?

Wrong. The good news is we found the flaw in your "logic". It would be silly to assume 50/50 on that probability. I can't say Horner is DEFINITELY doping but it's actually VERY likely when looking at many different data points.

    Cycle of Lies

agreed. in 2012 Lim claimed he wasn't even paid by Landis in 2006 then it turns out he had a salary of $80K USD?!?! Lim's credibility drops to ZERO after things like that come out. I'm tempted to call the IRS and tell them to take a closer look at Allen's filings! AL is...

    JV talks, sort of

I finally got around to watching Kuurne Brussels Kuurne off my DVR today. It looked like Van Summeren, who made the decisive break, chose not to wear a skin suit or aero helmet. If you'll remember the skin suit is what JV says won him Paris Roubaix a few seasons ago. I guess the Garmin...

    JV talks, sort of

Since this has turned into the bash JV thread I guess this is as good a place as any to ask for help. I have a problem and i'm hoping for an assist from the clinic 12. I remember reading Vaughters' articles in Cycle Sport many years ago as an impressionable young racer. There's one...

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

also, I think a 10% increase in mass is really pushing the boundary of what you could squeak past the passport but I don't feel like re-reading the source material so... ...hypothetically speaking, if a 10% increase in mass could yield a 5% increase in threshold power from say 6 w/kg to 6.3...

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

we (JV included) have discussed exactly this topic. You're welcome to search for it cus I don't really care that much. here's some help tho, it isn't a 1:1 ratio. a 10% increase in mass wouldn't quite yield a 10% increase in threshold power. it's closer to half of that. also, I...

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

Since it's been moderated out, I'll say again that LBL is an extremely long and difficult race. I don't believe in miracles and have serious doubts it can be won clean.

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

I didn't quite get it at first but I think he's saying a talent as big as Lemond would never struggle at the back that much even if it was just his first 2-3 seasons as a pro. While ambiguously worded I actually think he has a point. I think we can retire the DM vs GL analogy, it's been shot...

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

no one told you to go away. i asked you to stop whining. big difference. you continue to distort and exaggerate to appear the victim. it isn't working. let's agree to stay on topic which is really the main point i was making.

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

here's help. posters are labled and lumped together. pro or anti Sky for instance, or the "everyone dopes" crowd. at that point we stop seeing that each poster's position is nuanced.

Dan Martin - "Now I know you can win clean"

you should know it as well as anyone, that's how forums/debate works. The vast majority of calm moderate views in the middle are drowned out by the vehemence of extremes on either side. you can wine about it all you want, it ain't gonna change a thing. each of us chooses to HTFU or go away...
