We hope all of you have a great holiday season and wonderful Christmas. Thanks so much for being part of the Cycling News community in 2025 and beyond!
Anybody here stating it's solely thanks to Remco?
He attacked himself, so big kudos for that, but you can't talk about his win without mentioning him being towed to Pogacar by Remco.
I mean yeah, that'd be the only reasonable tactics for him, but still I think he'd be dropped by Pogacar.
Also, another thing is that van der Poel was feeling quite confident coming to the race (after MSR win; I know it's totally different race, but still) and after the first climbs, where he...
Was he doing that much of an excessive work today? I don't think so. You can't demand him not to do a single pull on the front and only hide behind Pogacar. If not Kwaremont, it just would've been Paterberg he'd be dropped by Pogacar.
The crash has a bigger impact imo.
Was there any possible scenerio in which the race would look any different that it looks atm? I hoped Mathieu could stick to Pog cause he looked great today. But 2023 showed us clearly that Ronde favours Pogi above Mathieu massively
What intuition for MvdP can be for this race other than trying to follow Pogi's wheel?
Pogi hast to attack, MvdP needs to try to follow and hope for the sprint. Just like in MSR.
