Rank 1-4: Boonen, Cancellara, Contador & Valverde

This is a fun question. It all comes down to how you interpret the question, and what you value. If I approach it from the perspective of what they accomplished, I would have to say: 1. Valverde 2. Contador 3. Cance 4. Boonen To be competitive for the win in almost any race you enter from...

Re: I agree with Ferrari. The real surprise is in the heart rate response. A stress echo would be interesting.

The Froome Files, test data only thread

My weight was about 72kg's. My FTP is an estimate as we did not have easy access to power meters back in the day. I am estimating based on a stepped protocol conducted by my national federation. IIRC, it was 3 min stepped protocol. i can't remember all the details of the starting power...

The Froome Files, test data only thread

Here are my two cents: 6 l/min at what ever weight you want to divide by is good, but I doubt this is high enough to account for his performance. I have seen with my own eyes a current WT rider test at 6.2 l/min as an untrained amateur and pure as fresh snow. He is holding WT, but not winning...

Clara Hughes reveals 1994 doping infraction

Re: Re: I can't speak to the Axel M. involvement in the sport, but I can tell you that I have A LOT more faith in the direction of CCA under Tolkamp than I ever did under previous administration. The sport is FAR better supported now than it had been in the past, and this includes youth and...

    Ryder's blood

Re: Re: Just seconding he opinions of hulkgogan and izzy. 1) Ryder never impressive locally 2) Only Canadian WT or conti-pros that I ever went "WTF" was Rollie and Svein. All the other guys were fast but not crazy. 3) Fararar when he was still local: wheel suck and then he gets you in the...

Who will be the most helpful domestique at the 2015 TDF ?

The value of a solid domestique in the first week is under-estimated. You may not see them in the mountains, but their value is massive in terms of closing gaps and protecting the leader. Not sure who, but yeah, Boom is a reasonable choice.

how big should the increase in avg speed be?

Re: Put the aerobars on your road bike, and work on your positioning. Your body accounts for the vast majority of total resistance. If you can get lower and narrower, you will go faster. the bike itself makes very little difference: it is mostly in the positioning.

    First year pros

Because young guys are just happy to get a contract. Yes there is doping in espoirs; not all, but at least some. Yes, DS will not choose someone who is going to create a headache for them. Actually lots of young riders quit because of doping (or ride at a lower level). You just have never...

Can a clean rider outperform doped riders in the current peloton?

Routley and Tuft have always been clean. I know that some of KBS is clean. Dont know the whole team well enough to comment further. If Dave DQ is who I think he is, then I can say I know the riders better than him.
