Tour de France Tour de France 2024, Stage 7: Nuits-Saint-Georges > Gevrey-Chambertin, 25.3 km (ITT)

It just goes to show how long seconds actually are, and how few you lose for quick stops. I think the poster talking about Remco losing 5 to 6 seconds jumping on his back wheel can take a note or two.

Tour de France Tour de France 2022: Stage 11 (Albertville – Col du Granon Serre Chevalier, 151.7k)

JV fail is on Roglic’s hand’s as well. No way he should have gone along with the plan. He should have been honest with his car and said “I’m cooked.”

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

Yeah, I think you’re all right. I was either splitting hairs or comparing apples and oranges. Hardly anyone understands running or cycling enough to know for certain who will or won’t excel, let alone who will when crossing across sports. Big ups to TD. Smaller but still big ups to Yates.

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

I specifically said cycling up mountains, where there is a net vertical gain with every pedal stroke. Mountains are the focal point of cycling, a flat track (or relatively flat road course is the focal point of athletics.) Again, absolute weight. Never do runners have a conversation with their...

Teams & Riders Tom Dumoulin discussion thread

Absolute weight matters much less in running than cycling up mountains. No runner is fighting gravity as directly as cyclists rolling up and down a mountain. 10k is easier to get closer to a 100% effort your first time/first few times out than a marathon. Experienced runners still take years to...

Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2021: Stage 20 (Sanxenxo - Castro de Herville, 202.2 km)

I hear you. I agree in the big picture of the stage. I think I was reacting to the finale after the cards were on the table. 3) You're suggesting a penultimate-climb or earlier attack? I agree. Definitely not his style, unfortunately. Yates did play the hand he was dealt on the last climb...

Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2021: Stage 20 (Sanxenxo - Castro de Herville, 202.2 km)

I agree. And, Yates also ran out of steep road. Even if he "dropped" Roglic, he could only do it on the 15%+ gradients and ran out of road.

Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2021: Stage 20 (Sanxenxo - Castro de Herville, 202.2 km)

Do GT fans not watch classics? This was pretty straight forward: Roglic had the most to lose, he would always be the winner on that uphill sprint. Mas, Yates et al tried to get away, but couldn't. So when an outsider attacks, you look at Roglic to chase, the only pressure you can add onto Roglic...

Vuelta a España Vuelta a España 2021: Stage 14 (Don Benito - Pico Villuercas, 165.7 km)

I've been wanting to comment about this Vuelta's "creative" camera work, but haven't made enough of a stink about it. Has anyone else noticed that they've doubled or tripled the number of stationary cameras they use for the finishes? Sprint finishes are hardly shown from the helicopter view...

Teams & Riders Team Visma - Lease a Bike

You're right. I guess I got caught up trying to appease forum posters than anyone connected to the racing itself. Bring on the TTT!

Teams & Riders Team Visma - Lease a Bike

I do wish there was a way to bring the prestige of a Grand Tour to TTTs without bringing the lameness of TTTs to the General Classifications. I think it's a beautiful event, but not worth the distortion it brings to the real race we're all here to see. Secondary events like the Hammer Series...

Neither did Asgreen, certainly compared to MvdP… It’s racing. Everything can and does happen.

Eurosport commentators are saying something about Rolland commenting about this stage- anyone have his quote?
