Shorter Stem to Compensate Longer Reach Handle Bar?

Never move the saddle around to make up for a too short, or too long stem. A bar with an 80mm reach is not that large. What kind of bar did you have before? Bars can often be cheaper than stems (but not carbon bars)

    The Bobby Julich files

Should he lose his 1998 3rd place...? “I made the decision to use EPO several times from August 1996 until July of 1998,” Julich wrote. “Those days were very different from today, but it was not a decision that I reached easily. I knew that it was wrong, but over those two years, the attitude...

    USADA - Armstrong

Should be interesting to see if any dirt comes out about the other two members. The USADA must be crappin' their pants now. I guess that if you want to play hardball, you have to be ready to get some thrown back at you. I notice that there is a thread titled " Lance Armstrong - An exercise in...

To Dope or not to Dope - would you?

It would be better if you directed this question to people who actually race, and not to the recreational rider, who might sign up for one or two races a year, at most. As for your answer Hell yes, unless studdies show that "X" might kill you. If "X" is later banned, then you stop using...

    Tubular Tire Recommendation

Yep, it was the CX, CG, CL, and the CS in smaller sizes Way back in the day, riders could even buy treads to replace the worn out ones, if the caseing was sound. I've never used Veloflex, but I was under the impression the they still glued on the treads.

    Tubular Tire Recommendation

If you grab a modern CX, it feels "stiff", even without any air in it. The old CX's (even the ones that were made in Thailand, the first few years), were very flexible. Modern vulcanized tubs work OK, but there is a big difference in "feel" between the two. Back in the day, One tire that...

    Tubular Tire Recommendation

"Conti are another good choice for tubulars as are Veloflex(big $). I don't personally like FMB or Dugast..cold vulcanized, meaning the tread is just glued on, not 'vulcanized, melted on' ala Veloflex, Vittoria, Conti and probably Clement. " Back in the day, all the high quality tubs were...

2012 TD Bank Philadelphia International Championship

The changes were made because of the money involved. At $85-$100 a pop, I'm sure the ride will be Fredtastic. Think of all that money being sucked into the pockets of the promoters. Someone should have thought of this, years ago......We'll see more of this, in the future. . . .

"Roberto" is one of the most misunderstood bike racers. Most competitors didn't understand that you don't "F" with Roberto.

Am I nuts to buy vintage steel as a first bike?

What's wrong with buying a modern hi-tech steel frame? Most of these weigh between 3 to 3-1/2 pounds. At most, you would be giving up 1 to 1-1/2 pounds over a 1 Kg frame.

    Removing dropout lawyer tabs?

A flat file works well on Aluminum tabs. I never filed off the tabs on my TT bike, because the fork tabs are carbon. Since it's a TT bike, I see no need to file them.

Floyd to be charged with fraud

Instead of all this silly speculation (on both sides), I would like to hear the views of people that actually work in this field. Was it a crime? Could he go to trial? What's the chance of conviction? What's the range of "bad things" that might happen to him......(Probation.....short...
